Question about glycogen/ water weight
Back story (feel free to skip): I recently lost about 20 pounds using MFP calorie tracking. Once I hit my goal weight, I felt great, I looked great, /confetti, hurrah. Then I switched to maintenance and BAM! +5 pounds right back on. After a little "wtf"ing, I found that post about glycogen stores that people are always…

Questions about Maintenance
Hey everyone, I've lost about 55 lbs over the past year and I think I am about ready to switch to maintenance (im a 19 year old male, 5'7", and weight about 133). My issue is that I still have a good amount of belly fat, but not much fat elsewhere. My question is, can I lose belly fat while eating at maintenance? I know…

Losing weight when I decided to maintain?
Hello all :) several weeks ago I decided to switch to maintenance calories (won't go into why). Most online calculators (and from my own experience) told me I maintain at about 1500-1700 calories a day, which seems reasonable. I am 5"2, 18 years old at 130lbs. SO last week I went kinda off track and averaged an intake of…

How do I maintain my weight again on my old diet?
When my weight was 135 lbs, my diet pretty much consisted of Chinese takeout, muffins, potato chips, chicken soup, coffee, tuna sandwiches, breakfast cereals, sushi, and candy. The only things I really had in my cupboard are potato chips and granular sugar. However, I ended up putting on 8 pounds drinking 3-4 bottles of…

I'm going into weight Maintenance and I'm nervous..
Is anyone else going into weight maintenance and a little nervous you'll gain weight? I just changed my profile and went from 1200 to 1640 calories a day. It seems like a big jump in calories. Also, I'm only able to walk for another 3 weeks vs my usually exercises (due to recovery) so that makes me nervous also. I guess…

Help with new clothes!
I figure since everyone here (or for the most part) is in maintenance then at some point you have had to buy new clothes. I am down 4 sizes from where I started and I'm basically buying a whole new wardrobe. Yeah for weight loss! Boo for being broke! It's 80 here this week and I am in desperate need of shorts. I don't ming…

HELP!!
My story in a nutshell: I lost 91lbs. I hit my goal weight last June so It's been almost a year. In the summer and fall I was running a lot. When the weather was getting cold I tried to keep it up at the gym but I ended up having almost 2 months where I didn't exercise at all. I adjusted my calorie intake during that time…

Can't commit to maintenance...
I've been 'transitioning' to maintenance for over a month now, I log intermittently but haven't upped my cal goal - though I eat extra and often forget to log it. I'm 26, 5'3, 119-120lb I am losing very very slowly now and am worried about the dreaded glycogen. I getting hung up on the number on the scale and don't want to…

Adjusting to higher calorie goal
I need to let myself eat more. I tried weening my way into the higher calorie goal, but I'm still losing. I think 1680 is too high, but evidently trying to stay under 1300 is too low. I'm 5'5" and currently weigh 124 lbs (my goal was 125). How should I ween myself into eating more? I think it's most a mental thing, but I…

Scared of eating over maintenance on active days.
I did 1 hour of weight lifting this morning and was on my feet all day working as a server. I usually end up feeling super hungry by the end of the day craving everything in the fridge. I don't know whether to give into these cravings or eat above maintenance. This only happens on days I've been more active as opposed to…

How many calories do I need to maintain? Help!
Hello everyone, I'm 18 years old, 113 pounds, 5'6" tall. I'm pretty sedentary and only do some light activity about 3 times a week. I want to maintain my current weight. Some people have told me 1400 calories is my maximum to maintain, while others suggest a larger numer like 2000. I don't really know what to do. I don't…

Scared of maintance
I am not even near my goal, but maintance scares me more. I need encouraging stories of people keeping it off and tips!! I see so many people lose the weight (mostly family members) just to gain it back and possibly more.

Best Pre-workout Snacks Ideas
Hey everyone! I'm finding it really challenging to find a good pre-workout snack to help fuel me through my workout mid day. I tried a Larabar and that was decent, but I was hoping some of you would have some good suggestions based on your own experiences. I always find it easier to workout in the morning because 1/2 cup…

too many carbs, scary numbers, not too many calories!
I track my food on MyFitnessPal although I'm not dieting I'm just maintaining my weight. I don't eat too many calories per day, however startlingly enough I ate too many carbs today. I was supposed to have 150 g of carbs, and I had 260 g! It scared me a bit, honestly. However, most of my carbs came from dried fruits,…

How much over maintenance before weight gain?
Know this has probably been asked before but I'll shoot anyway. Ok so my maintenance is currently 1600. I'm sedentary. I know MFP says that 1800 daily will make me gain half a pound a week, so basically to maintain I have to stay with the 1600-1700 range? It seems like it would be hard to keep this up as a lifetime thing.

Wishing I hadn't switched to maintaince
Me getting to my goal was a great effort, a got there with little problems, but the last 2 months after switching has turned out out to be a complete failure, I began on 2200 (a big jump from 1500), but I slowly seemed to gaining, 2 weeks later I switched to 2000, then soon it was obvious i'll never see my goal weight…

At home I could…

Calories for recomp?
Total newbie here. Happy with my scale weight, started half heartedly lifting heavy weights and I've fallen in love. Working with a bit of a blend of 5/3/1 and Strong Curves and realised for best success I need to pay more attention to my protein and macros. This has highlighted calories for me for the first time (!!). I'm…

Increasing Calories But Still Losing Weight
Hi, I have posted a few times here because weight loss was easy for me, but now I am moving to maintenance and want to maintain my weight comfortably without worrying about gaining it all back. I have been trying to increase now since January but have dropped 10lbs in that time span (I was 147.7 when I started just weighed…

How many calories do you eat to maintain your weight
I am about 168cm and around 56/57kg though I do not weigh myself anymore. I find that MFP sets me at 1600/1700 calories for sedentary or lightly active and I aim for NET that amount on the days I exercise. But I find that intake is really not adequate in terms of stopping hunger. I still get hungry and I still binge…

hungrier closer to maintaining?
So i have gotten down to a healthy weight and am pretty close to maintaining. I've been noticing though i'm much hungrier then before. I started out on mfp eating 1400 calories and being full pretty much every day and never needing to go over. Now weirdly enough I'm finding myself hungry unless i hit 1500-1800. Is there…

To maintain or gain?
Hi guys This may be a long post so bear with me as I go on, but I think I may have a problem health-wise. First of all I'm a 28 year old male who measures at 5 foot 8 tall, has quite an active job in doing white man van work part-time. And use running as a hobby, I've run 7 half-marathons (about to run my 8th) and find…

Figuring out Maintenance Cals while Lifting
Hey there! So, I'm essentially working on body recomposition at this point, because I'm at a healthy weight, but I want to decrease my BF%. So, I've been lifting heavy - or learning to - for the past few weeks. My issue is that I'm still unsure what my calories are for maintaining. People say to eat at a number for a few…

A taste of maintainance
Hi! Next week I'll have visitors so I'll have to change my routine around accommodating daily trips and showing them around. This means that I won't be able to work out as much as I do now, I don't know if I'll be able to work out at all I'm afraid. So, I decided to see it as a trial of how it'll be when I'll be…

Should have taken more selfies!
I did not really have any "before" pictures because for obvious reason I did not feel comfortable in front of the camera! 20+ pounds later, I am quite the photo bugs....but with nothing to compare against. Anyone in the same boat? And oh...how do you take a good selfie (for MPF, like showing your abs)?
