ideas for tackling fatigue with an increased exercise regime
I've slowly increased my exercise routines which for me, seems to be the best way to move the scale lower. I've combined walking, cycling, rowing and stretching for a total between 45 mins to 1.5 hours per day. I felt great but I feel like I'm hitting a bit of a wall energy wise and also nodding off in the evening. I would…

Accuracy of MPF’s Calories for Steps
Hi everyone, I’ve returned to MFP after quite a long time away. I remember last time reading a forum post which recommended NOT syncing MFP with steps, on the basis that it overestimates how many additional calories you can eat after exercise. I have MFP set up for weight loss, and connected to my iPhone to track steps.…

Workout motivation
Hey everyone! I’m a student in college (let’s go Penn state) and I want to go to the gym again. I went in HS and would be active 2 summers ago, but because of my busy schedule and how much I worked this last summer, I haven’t been able to go to the gym. I walk a decent amount on campus and I work, but I need help finding…

Do you run slow? Then you might be doing it right!
I know some people eschew running because of its impact on the body, especially knees and hips. I have friends that tell me I shouldn't do it because I will inevitably get injured. To be honest, I got out of the habit at some point and will get back into it. I have never been a fast runner. Well, my last two or three years…

Exercise Calculations
Help! Last week, I turned on the negative calorie adjustment. Since then, my exercise calories are all over the board. For example, last week on one day I ran 2.5 miles and later that day, walked approx 3 miles. MFP logged my whole exercise category as -446. The overly negative tracking happened for about 5 days in a row.…

Getting Started with Strength Training
I'm almost at the half-way point with my weight loss, and had planned that to be when I would start working on building muscle (while continuing to lose the remaining fat). It isn't really an option to hire a personal trainer, so I'm looking to try to find a place to create a workout plan that is flexible for growth. I've…

Calorie counter for exercise seems half
Why does the calorie counter for walking seem to only give you half credit for calories? If I walk 23,000 steps in a day I’m only credited with about 330 calories. That seems to half of what it should be for walking 10 miles. The numbers are similar for 5,000 or 17,000 steps. It always seems low by 50%.

It seems impossible to track exercise calories burned …
I am very active - Pilates, judo and track workouts when not covered in snow - and exercise calorie burns seem impossible to calculate with ANY degree of certainty. Age, gender, how hard the training is … so I have taken to upping my calorie intake by settings and ignoring the workouts. How have other people dealt with…

Exercise - hockey question on duration
Hi, There is an ice hockey exercise preloaded (which I assume is just as good for roller hockey). However, as anyone who has ever watched or played hockey knows you are not out on the ice/rink the entire time. So assume a 50 minute game, you might only be out there for 20 minutes. So my question is, does the duration…

How to log exercise: using an ext. app!
Hi, I don’t use any of the apps that you can connect to here. I have two apps that I really love and have been loyal to, Down Dog yoga & their HIIT app. I just want to be able to log the time I spend on those apps — I can somewhat easily get my HIIT exercises logged here but I tend to do more yoga. I am not entirely…
