Treadmills
I am looking into getting a treadmill and would like some opinions on which one to get. I want one that is sturdy enough for running. Nordic Trak has a commercial grade 1750 that looks good but it is not displayed at the store so I was not able to try it out. There is a brand at Sears called Sole that seemed very durable…

P90X Combined with other exercise....Too much?
First off I want to say that I am not an athlete or a exercise enthusiast. I enjoy working out when I do it, but lack consistency. Last week I started running (just 1 mile, but its a start). And I went swimming. Eventually I would like to do a triathlon in my life. DH usually works out of town, but next week he will start…

Strength Training Is Kicking My Butt!
Oh. My. Goodness. I went for a 2 1/2+ mile brisk walk last night and, although sweaty (I live in Tucson, where it's still 100 degrees during the day and still in the 80's when the sun goes down), I wasn't particularly sore or even terribly winded. I'm feeling it today, but it wasn't exactly painful. Today, on my lunch…

Sweating more...
So recently I have noticed that during my workouts I am sweating a lot more! Not sure why, but it is the same workout, I should be getting used to it more, but I find that the more used to it I get the more I sweat.... Is this a good thing?

A lousy dancer trying Zumba :-p Any tips?
Hi all I am a 28 year old girl and I have decided to try something new. Everyone seems to love Zumba, but I feel a bit insecure. The reason is that I have problems coordinating arms and legs and moving in the right direction :-p I really feel stupid and useless when going to aerobics lessons, so I have avoided that for…

Seeking FitnessPals who play Wii, Turbo Fire or exercise wit
Hey, all my real life fitnesspals have given up and I am hoping someone else is out there, working their butt off on WiiFit, and/or EA Active workouts, and/or Wii Just Dance, and/or any BeachBody type workout program. I tried P90X but very much disliked it (too man oriented, too much Yoga). I started TurboFire on Tuesday…

Being overweight and not exercising has finally taken it's toll on my body. walking up huge hills, riding my bike and the stairmaster all leave me out of breath and feeling horrible. Yesterday I was walking up a massive hill. (I have never seen a bike rider who was able to peddle up the hill..so it's not like I am some fat…

HR monitore and Cal's Burned at Gym
Hi, I have a HRM, but the watch part is confussing.... if I wear the chest piece while at the gym the machines keep track of my HR. Tabata Training
A friend on MFP just told me to Google "Tabata Training". It sounds pretty interesting. You would need an HRM to track how many cals you burn. I think it would be a great way to get the blood pumping in the morning! http://ezinearticles.com/?Tabata-Anything---Four-Minutes-of-Pain-to-Gain&id=348486

I'm starting it tomorrow, so I was wondering if anyone has started it recently or is starting soon. Is there a thread like that already? If not, you can share how well you're doing or how much you want to murder Jillian here with me.

How Do I Measure Step Size?
I got a new pedometer (nothing fancy or exciting, I just wondered how much I walk around every day). But the problem is that it needs to know my step size to convert it to miles...I've looked on the internet and they have the craziest ways to measure step size (one said I need to make a puddle on the sidewalk...which is…

Walking...How do I know how fast I'm going?
Quick question. I walk every day with my sister for about 40 minutes a day. I feel we walk very fast, as it's difficult to have a conversation. We also do a couple of big hills. I've been calculating my walk as 3.0 Mod Pace, walking a dog. But I think we are going a lot faster (the dog is panting halfway through). I don't…

new balance via mini
My mom gave me a pedometer of sorts for my birthday. she got the new balance via mini that's supposed to track how many calories you've burned, but since it's not an HRM, I know this feature is pretty useless, or at least not super accurate. Still, I am trying to do couch to 5 k starting today and i'd like to use it to…

Calling all runners!! Need advice please!
Let me just start off by saying that I LOVE RUNNING. I look forward to my running days. I love the way I feel when I’m doing it and the way I feel after. However, I haven’t been able to run in over 5 years because every time I start running again, I get horrible shin splints. The kind that eventually hurt so bad I…

Counting steps from my pedometer
Does anyone know how to record the number of steps walked in a day in the exercise portion of this site??? I work a 12hr shift and I'm constantly on my feet and decided I would just wear a pedometer at work to record just how much I move so that it doesn't look like I have been sitting around all day on my exercise log.…
