Question for weight room veterans...?
Is there a difference between using the weight machines (like Nautilus, etc) verses using free weights? At my gym, for the most part, I only see fellas over in the free weight area, so I've jokingly dubbed it "the boys side". But seriously, is there more to be gained for me trying some free weights? HRM's
I've been seeing a lot of posts from people about these. I've never had one and don't know much about them. They're specific to the individual wearing it? It must track your weight or something to know how many calories I would be burning during a workout, right? Any information or suggestions are appreciated! -L

FITNESS TEST....
Joined a gym again on Wed, haven't been to the gym in umm.....3 years! I'm afraid of what my results are gonna be like for cardio - at least I've been working out a home I guess for the past 2 months, so I'm not a fish right out of water. Wish me luck!:tongue:

Heart Rate Monitor?
I feel silly asking this, but is a HRM what I want to purchase in order to figure how many cals I'm actually burning per workout session??? And if so, how do I calculate them based on the HRM digits? Is there a particular formula? Thanks for any help!

STRENGTH TRAINING?
I am new to this website and was wondering why strength training does not show any calories lost? For example: yesterday I did 80 squats, and 70 bicep curls and when I add that in to my exercise it doesnt take any calories off? Does anyone know why? I know I got to be burning some calories.

A good workout?
What do you consider a good workout? I went to the gym during lunch today and burned 300 calories (says my trusty HRM!) on the elliptical machine. But, I still feel like I didn't do much. I'm not totally satisfied with my workout. :angry:

When I went to add a meal to the food diary, I pulled up the ingredient and it will give me the serving, but say I use the whole can, pkg, or container, how can I do that and then break it up into servings?
