Morning, all. (y'all?) Today I'm taking advantage of the sunshine and going for a long walk. (also, slept in too late to reserve a spin bike at the gym. . .) Yesterday's weight workout has left me pretty sore, but I actually like it. I like being sore when there's a reason for it. I did a thirty minute "hip opener"…

Sorry this is a little long, I babble... Ok so I am bound and determined to get my pedometer to be accurate. Walking at work isn't bad since I can walk to cross streets that I can map, but if I walk at home I walk on a long windy road that doesn't have any landmarks or cross streets. So having an accurate pedometer is…

Machine vs. MFP?
Hi, I don't own a heart rate monitor and was wondering if people record the calories burned on the machine or what MFP says? For example: I ran on the treadmill for 23 minutes and the machine said I burned 175 calories but MFP says I burned 188 and the opposite for elliptical the machine said I burned 275 calories but MFP…

muscles
I know that muscle weighs more than fat. So you do strength traing to build up your muscles. So when you get on the scale you may gain a pound because muscle weighs more than fat. So how are you suppose to reach your goal weight?

Aerobic vs Anaerobic Time?
So, everything I've read says that in order for a cardio workout to be truly effective you should do it for 20 minutes minimum. What about anaerobic exercise? How long do we need to lift weights in order to see the benefits? Trying to find a balance between the two (and perhaps a more efficient way of working out). -D

My second one that is. Currently I have 2 gym memberships and I only use the one for 1 class a week. I guess if she doesn't do a Monday class someone is doing something in the group that I…

My bike + climbing = success!
Today was fantastic. My husband and I have been coming to Monterey for the past 9 yrs. We love to take a week, at least 3 to 4 times a year and devote the week to riding. Monterey is one of our favorite spots to ride. We usually do the 17 mile drive up to Carmel, but today I was in a for a treat! My husband decided to take…

Heart rate????
Anyone else notice that when they were heavier it was easier to get your heart rate up? I know that when I was heavy(230lb) I could get my heart rate up by briskly walking or lite jogging. Now i have to run as hard as I can to get my heart rate up to the same level. If we are healthier now shouldn't it be easier...not…

Swimming
I just joined my local YMCA because they have a small indoor pool. I am getting back into a new exercise program and I would like to incorporate some swimming. I am confident in the water (love the ocean) but my specific strokes are not technical at all (crawl is my weakness). I was taught the strokes when I was a kid, but…
