Please stop saying everything is starvation mode...
I swear if I see one more thread where someone says that someone is in "starvation mode" because they missed snack 2 or are eating 1200 calories a day I am going to have a melt down. You have to not eat ANYTHING for 72 hours for your body to to into starvation mode and start turing to muscle to for energy. And even then…

100 calorie popcorn toppings?
So, I've been making my own 100 calorie popcorn because the ones you can buy are pretty pricy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but two tablespoons of un-popped popcorn kernels are around 90 calories, so that leaves me 10 for toppings. I've been loving lemon juice, salt and oregano, but it's getting boring. If you guys like any…

Hi, I am new to this and have been logging for about a week. I am generally trying to lose a bit of belly and get myself fitter. Chicken stock, homemade yogurt, homemade almond milk
I've seen recipes for homemade chicken stock, homemade greek yogurt, homemade regular yogurt, and homemade almond milk. I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to log the yogurts (if I was ever motivated enough). But how does one log the homemade stock? It's a bunch of bones (with maybe some meat) and some veggies but you…

A calorie may not be a calorie
We often read how estimating calories is an inexact science and calorie counts can be off by as much as 20% this article goes some way to explaining this. Ref: http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/proof-is-in-the-eating-all-kilojoules-not-equal-20130220-2ervg.html When it comes to weight loss, a calorie is a calorie; a…

help with macro ratios
So I was wondering what is the best way to set my macros. I currently have them balanced out somewhere around 35/35/30, but in doing some reading online I've noticed a lot of "golden rules" out there. Some say carbs should be 50%, protein 30, fat 20 around there. I'm meeting my calorie goals and balancing everything out,…

What Could be Causing Extreme Bloating?
I recently quit low carb after three weeks of induction (just wasn't for me - didn't feel I was as healthy as when I ate more carbs), but even before that I had a lot of bloat. Since quitting I've gained back 4 lbs (I'm assuming water weight) then as of Tuesday dropped 2 lbs. So I'm sitting at 143 lbs (5'4). The problem is…

RDA Vitamins/Minerals %
RDAs are based in a 2000 cal diet. Most of the time this works, because any extra flushes from our systems anyway. But, I rarely eat a 2000 cal diet, am dieting on 1200 cals. Does this mean I new to adjust the RDAs for my diet? I'm thinking that I would be getting enough calcium if so, and WAY more sodium than I need.
