My heart goes out to this woman and her family. It is sad that her addiction ended up taking her life and causing her children harm. Allowing yourself a treat to avoid bingeing
Tonight, I ate a butterfinger and it was yummy. It was 270 calories, but I managed to stay under my daily calorie allowance. I decided I am no longer going to deny myself life's small pleasures/indulgences. Maybe this will cut down on my binges. Sometimes, like tonight, I have a sweet tooth for something sweet and/or…

Too much protein?
Hey everyone. Since the beginning of January, I go to the Gym three times a week. I do a 25 minutes cardio training (elliptical, interval training), and musculation (40 minutes). Recently, I started back taking note of what I eat and checking it in in Myfitnesspal. Turns out that, at the end of the day, I exceed the…

Water retention
Hello everyone! I'm slowly learning more and more each day, but the topic of water retention still eludes me. I was wondering, in general, what type of foods increase the amount of water you retain, how much can this affect the scale, and how long the effects of this last. It might seem like a silly question, because I…

Rice Cookers
I have never used one but am eating more and more brown rice. How long do they take to cook rice? Do all rice cookers work well for both brown and white rice? Any other tips, hints, product suggestions? Thanks!

liquid intake...
I'm sure this has been covered somewhere - and likely as many opinions are posts... just not sure what to search and lazy - so posting again... I KNOW I am not drinking enough water. Pure, unadulterated water. I am making a conscientious effort to increase and log my water intake. I do drink plenty of coffee however.…

Less Calories When Hypothyroid?
I have Hashimoto's, which means my body is attacking my thyroid and killing it off. I take medication to compensate, and my TSH is in the "normal" range. Between September and December, I lost 15 pounds, but put about half of it back on over the holidays and up until know. I've been consistently eating over 1,400…

Sugar intake
Was just wondering how people stay at or under their alloted daily sugar suggested by MFP. Most of mine come from fruit, is this bad?

What is a good substitute for mayo?
So I'm a big mayo lover - before I joined MFP I would get extra mayo on sandwiches...obviously I'm trying to cut that habit :) . But what is a healthier sauce I can use on sandwiches and wraps, something yummy! i don't really like mustard, and I like things that are flavorful.

So much conflicting info on artificial sweetners
I have a huge downfall. I drink at least 2 Diet Dews during the day, along with water, and I drink Crystal Light in the evenings. I don't drink milk. Occasionally, I'll drink vanilla almond milk. So what's the deal with all the talk about artificial sweetners? Exactly how are they bad for you, and what am I supposed to do…

1300 calories a day. Healthy?
When I started up on MFP 3 weeks ago it had my daily calorie goal at 1400. I've since lost 3 pounds, and it has lowered my calorie goal to 1380. 20 calorie difference, not so bad. But now I'm a little concerned about how much lower that calorie goal is going to get. Is it really healthy? I know this has probably been asked…

Low carb diet, how low?
I've only got around 15lbs to lose, so I'm considering going low carb to try and shift it, because so far I've tried everything else and the last 15lbs just won't budge! I've looked around the forum to see what other people consider low carb, and on google, but nobody seems to really agree. At the moment I'm having up to…

Sodas -- My Nemisis
For those who were used to drinking soft drinks all the time to not drinking them at all, what was your secret? I'm not interested in going to diet sodas, I just want to quit them altogether. 1-10: How well do you manage your daily caloric intake?
Hi Pals, I am going to be honest, I track my food intake but I sort of guess my way throughout the day. Granted, I always try to overestimate than under, I must say that I am a lazy tracker. If it has a barcode (which isn't frequent), I scan it, if its a few ingredients, I list them. When it comes to adding fully prepared…

Calories and weight lifting- What's your goal?
I've been trying to stick to my goal, which I believe I looked up online and it was set at 1200 calories a day. If i excersize and log it, obviously MFP will net me back those calories. I'm 23yo female, 5'6" and 136 and even though I have a desk job and don't move much during the day, 1200 seems so little! I am starving…

Protein powder suggestions?
I have just this week started heavy lifting (relatively speaking) and am trying to be more mindful of my protein intake. MFP says I need 146 grams daily, but the closest I have come is 93. I am resigned to the fact I will need to supplement, at least while I learn to adjust my diet appropriately. I make fresh juice each…

RE: Water Counter
When I drink water, I record it as water drunk. When I drink tea, I record it as water drunk. Where do you draw the line on counting a drink as water? Clearly, chocolate milk doesn't count...but what about something like 'Sparkling ICE', which is mainly sparkling water with some flavor? Do you count that as water? What…

if over on cals but lacking a macro or nutrients in general
If you used up all your calories but ate carbs all day and not much protein, if you go over on calories because you are eating extra protein to make up for it (say, 3 servings of egg whites and a bit glass of 1% milk) will that go to your *kitten* or will your body use the protein? sorry, I don't know if I worded this right
