Almost there! Time to increase my intake?
Ok guys so I'm 9lbs away from goal weight!!!! Most people say to slow your weight loss rate to 0.5lbs per week right?
-
Does this seem correct to you?
I posted last week about my trip to a nutritionist and I am still questioning a few things she said. Some of it makes total sense, some doesn't. I just want some feedback from people out there who have had success on MFP and just get your own opinions on the following. Basically, the jist of her message was lower carb and…

Does anyone cook on weekends for the week?
I'm hate to cook in general but it's even worse if I have to do it in the evenings. It's so much easier to stop and get fast food but I'm breaking that habit. What are some things that you make on the weekend and reheat during the week that still taste good?

Cooking Tips
I noticed several people on MFP microwave their potatoes as opposed to baking them, so I wanted to share my way of microwaving a potato so that you can't tell it has been microwaved. First wash your potato and dry it. Then with a fork poke holes all over the potato. This will keep your potato from exploding in the…

What is going on???
Last week I changed my settings from weight loss to maintenance. I was eating 1200 cal per day, now it is 1500. Funny thing is that when I was on 1200cal I really struggled to lose those last couple of pounds and since changing to 1500 I have lost 2 pounds, IN ONE WEEK!!!

Anyone worried about an eating rut?
I have only been back on-track with MFP for about 40 days, but previously used the site for more than 200 days in a row. I am so happy to be working toward my goal of getting healthy again. However, I noticed when filling out my food tracker for breakfast this morning that I seem to keep going to the "recent" tab since I…

Protein After Workout
I am 5'5, 142 lb and just got done with a 60 minute cardio/strength training class where I burned 470 calories. Can anyone tell me how many grams of protein is optimal after my workout? I had a protein shake (25g protein) before my workout, but understand it's beneficial to consume protein after my workout as well. Thanks…

BMR / TDEE
I keep hearing that you should eat above your BMR but at least 20% below TDEE to lose weight to make it more of a lifestyle change than diet, but here's my dilemma: BMR: 1526 TDEE (sedentary - I'm a gamer): 1832 20% of my TDEE is 1466 which is below my BMR. Would the proper way of doing this be eating at LEAST my BMR or…

Protein powder suggestions for non-dairy?
Considering adding protein powder somewhere into my day....I'm dairy free though and the idea of water with it just doesn't sound good. Anyone use a good protein powder that is GOOD with water or a light juice? Can't do dairy or soy.... I can tolerate almond milk in small doses, but not regularly.

Snacks that are 29 calories or less
Ok, MFP peeps - (yes, I said peeps)...have my entire day planned menu-wise (and unable to alter it), and will need a snack between lunch and dinner - lunch will be around 1, and dinner won't be until after 8 pm because of my kid's school play. I have 29 calories only left for the day. Any suggestions for 29 calorie snacks…

Is there such a thing as too much water?
We've all heard that one of the best things you can do for your body, dieting or not, is to drink more water. I've been making a concious effort to drink more and keep track of it in my diary every day. I have a Camelbak at my desk at work that holds 24 oz., and I typically drink three full bottles in the morning and maybe…

Zero Calorie Sweetener vs. Natural Sugar
I myself, along with many others, drink their morning coffee with a zero calorie sweetener, Sweet-N-Low, Splenda, etc. All I hear is how bad they are for you. Zero calorie sweeteners confuse the body and make you gain weight around the midsection. "They give you CANCER! " I have been thinking to just going with regular…

Sodium intake
Is there a way to counteract sodium intake? I got a $5 footlong subway club today from subway (no cheese, no sauce.. just veggies) and I ate half for lunch and am going to have the other half before I go to class tonight. However, the sodium in the meat is crazy high. Is there anything I can do to counteract this? Drink…

Lenten Fish Fries - Which is less bad?
With Lent starting today, every church and volunteer fire department in the area will be having Friday fish fries. In my area, this means 2 8oz cod fillets, dipped in batter and deep fried. Most places also offer a baked version - same amount of fish baked in butter. My wife and I will split a dinner, but which do you…
