Great Tip for Low-Carbers
Got a great tip from a fabulously knowledgable friend of mine who is a certified trainer specializing in people who need to lose a lot of weight- when doing low-carb, it's very smart to go for about 12 weeks and then spend a week carb-loading. This is especially true if any of us are hitting any weight loss plateaus. I am…

Eat to Live- trustworthy?
I know there's been some discussion on the Eat to Live book by Dr Fuhrman, but I'm wary of trusting it- just habit I guess. Does anyone have an educated opinion on this book/plan? Wondering about the calories in some of their foods?
I just looked at a cup of basmati rice on here, it was listed as 350 calories. That seems... kinda high. I'm not a dietician but a few other sources I googled had it between 210 and 285. I heard that some of the myfitnesspal counts are a bit inflated, is that true? Or are people finding this pretty accurate?

What is the deal with Dr. Oz?
What is the deal with Dr. Oz? I've heard of him for a while, knew he had a tv show, thought of him as a doctor with some holistic tendencies, for some reason. Then I started getting these 'sponsored' ads on my facebook page, which say things like, "Dr Oz says lose 27 pounds in three weeks with this one trick!" or "number…

Science behind 40/30/30?
40/30/30 is the oft recommended macro split, both here and elsewhere on these here intertubes. But can someone cite the science behind it?
