Problem with Sugars
Hi there, I have an allotted 64 grams of sugar based on the calculator on MFP. I seem to be having issues going over the sugars. The main reason is I eat Raisin Bran for the high fiber and drink Lactaid 2% milk. That equals 19.5 grams of sugar from the Raisin Bran and 12 grams of sugar from the milk. How should I factor in…

Is Christmas going to be a free day for you?
Just wondering who is taking christmas off calorie wise. It's not such a big deal in my case seeing as I'm eating a surplus at present anyway, but I'm going to eat some JUNK. Gravy, cake and chocolate come at me! Plus a few beers, maybe some champagne. Will you log your calories? I will. Mostly out of curiosity. What about…

Maybe I am not trying hard enough. I normally exercise quite a bit and I'll eat my calories I burned so I eat maybe 1500 or so. but I also…

Hello all, I'm looking for a book which details the chemical reactions involved with eating fat, protein, carbs etc. I throw around words like MCT's and insulin sensitivity without really knowing what the heck I'm talking about. I want to become more knowledgeable about WHY regular fat is good, and why trans fat is bad,…

Eat this Not that
We all are trying to reduce our caloric intake. One of the ways is reducing what we eat another way is replacing what we eat with something else. I have replaced my ritz crackers with Ryvita - Rye & Oat Bran Crispbread. Eat this = 4 Ryvita Crisps = 160 calories Do not eat = 16 Ritz crackers = 256 calories How about you,…

Possibly boring, but I need help
So first off I will say that when I was a young girl I was in and out of the hospital due to anorexia. I then became terrified of food and quit eating hardly anything... Of course being sedentary didn't help; I gained a ton of weight. Fast forward to now. I am just starting out and have been reading quite a bit of the…

Menu Planning?
So I've found that it's much easier to control my diet if I have a menu for the week planned out. I assume other people do this too so the question is how do you do it? Does anyone know of a good menu planning website? I've been using pepperplate.com but I find it to be frustrating at times. It doesn't work well from an…

The hidden evil of low cal
So now that I have become fairly proficient with MFP, I changed around the items being tracked and reported. In my case along with calories fat, and protein, I have added cholesterol and sodium. So the hidden evil of low calorie seems to be they REALLY pump up the sodium levels to some pretty crazy levels, especially when…

http://www.stuff.co.nz/science/8083355/Cheap-foods-pack-a-big-punch-in-disaster-relief Peanut butter, sugar, flour, rice, pasta, vegetable oil and whole grain oats are the cheapest and most calorific items, the study says, and it wants to encourage poorer families to prepare for natural disasters. ViSalus or Vi-Shape Shakes
I have a couple of friends that I work with and they drink the shakes once a day. I'm lactose intolerant and the ingredients say it's lactose free, however when I read the full ingredient list there is whey protein in it. I remember a couple of years ago when I had this really bad reaction to any form of whey or dairy…

Substitute for Bananas? Or don't bother?
I've heard from some people that bananas are really too high in sugar, obviously they are better than some processed crap, but... if I have options, should I eat a different kind of fruit? I usually have at least 2 a day, more like 3 most days, one in a shake and then quickly before a workout and randomly throughout the…

How do you control binge eating?
I'm a newbie (3 days in). My problem with foods is that I love it! I've never been into sweets that much (but of course I have my guilty pleasures here and there) and as far as chips and stuff I only like about 4 kinds and I don't eat them often. My problem is I'm a huge binger! Oh and I'm a carb abuser. SO I guess what…

Malnourished or Vitamin Problem?
I started on MFP back in November 12th and since then I have lost 10 lbs just by staying around my calorie goal range. I also take a multivitamin supplement, One A Day for Women, and a gummy fiber supplement. Today I was at work talking with a nurse (I am an Occupational Therapy Assistant) and she noticed pitting in the…

Big Macs 1.12? FML
This is what a lady from work just posted on Facebook. Apparently Big Macs are 1.12 right now... I work at a McDonald's. Anyway. Yes, I had a Big Mac today. But no, I did not order 20 like I heard some guy did. And complained that if he didn't get his Big Macs (he I guess waited a long time) he was going to go home and get…

Staying healthy with different goals

How many cals to maintain?
hiya, I was on a 1200 cal diet for 3 mths and lost 15 lbs my goal (eating back any cals from exercise). I upped my cals to 1440 a month ago as I did not want to add too many in one go and I have lost a further 1lbs in one month. So today I have upped to 1550 cals per day. I am a bit disappointed that my maintenance…

Trying to figure out the correct amount of calories to eat?!
I know this has been asked a thousand times, but I feel like I always get a different answer! MFP has my calories needed to 1,500, without exercise. I burn 400-500 calories a day 6-7 days a week & usually try to eat back my exercise calories. My issue is that I'm not seeing any weight loss? I definitely slip up sometimes,…

Lower fat intake?
So, I’ve set my MFP goals to 25%fat 50%carbs and 25%protein (that’s 47, 213 and 106 grs respectively). However I did a quick survey of my diary and I find I am more near 35%, 45%, 20% (66f, 191c, and 85p grs). I usually stay near my overall calorie goal, but I consistently go over in fat. I usually do not go over the sat…
