MAJOR thing just happened....
At my desk, getting a little hungry. Brought some snacks from home - red pear or 100 cal. pkg of M&Ms. Any day prior to this one, I would have chosen the chocolate, but decided to go with pear. It tasted so good and think it will tie me over until dinner. Sounds silly but this is a big movement forward for me!

BEANS!!!
Does anyone know if (and if so, how much) draining and rinsing canned beans saves on calories? I know it cuts down on sodium but I'm not sure if it has any substantial impact on calories. I've tried Googling it but can't find an answer.

Oatmeal: old fashioned vs. quick cook
Ok I understand that on the scale of types instant oats are the worst because they have flavors (and therefore added calories, fat & sodium) and steelcut oats are the best, most unprocessed and all that jazz but they take too long to cook for me. I'm awful about making a bunch in advance and reheating it so I prefer to…

Allergies
So, after 3 years of suffering migranes and having a plugged ear (think ear infection, only no infection, just the pain), I had surgery several weeks ago. The doctor put a tube in my ear (to relieve the plugged feeling-- it didn't work), did a septoplasmy (sp?) because he thought the different sized nostrils created a…

Nutritional labels are wrong...great!
Just saw a news report that NI isn't always accurate, especially at restaurants and in frozen foods. Frozen foods averaged 8% more calories than stated and restaurant meals averaged 18% more calories than stated. Guess I won't buy any more frozen lunches... Recommendation: cook your own food at home

Salmon skin
I love love love the skin on salmon!!!   Well since I've been logging my calories and fat, I've been tossing it out. Do you think a 3 ounce salmon fillet is 175 calories/10 grams of fat, with or without the skin? I'd really like to eat it tonight, yummie! I've heard that's were most of the fat is.

What else for dinner?
I'm trying to get into routine in planning my meals. I'm having a BLT without the T :ohwell: Don't really like maters lol. I have a calorie intake of 1400. This still leaves me 532 calories, 75 carbs, 19 fat and 17 protein. Is 532 calories too big of a deficit for me not to eat them? Plus, a BL/T is kinda bland..I need…
