What setting do you find works...
best for you? I'm trying to decide whether to shoot for the 1, 1.5, or 2 pounds a week. Just wondered if people went with the recommended 1 pound or if it works to try for more.

Excuses? How not to cause offence?
I had the sticky situation of having to refuse a slice of chocolate gateau today - a workmate had made it at home, and proudly brought it in for us all to share. I refused, saying I wasn't hungry and would maybe have a piece later, and she was really offended, saying "but I made it specially, what's wrong with my cooking?"…

What works for you?
My big problem is the yo-yo. Grew up active and fitter than the rest of my family, and had a lot of "You're naturally skinny!" hate thrown my way. Unfortunately, it did lead me to believe that they were right, and I ate anything I wanted without much worry. When my activity levels declined (around when I started driving…

Anyone else have dramatic weight loss in their 1st week?
I still don't believe that I lost 10 pounds in my first week here! It feels wierd to even write because I didn't do anything terribly dramatic. I didn't feel deprived, I didn't over-exercise, I didn't obsess over my food. Just followed my calories and did 3 hard elliptical sessions during the week. I know it's going to…

Yo-yo Weight Loss/Gain
Hi Everyone! I was wondering if this has been happening to anyone else. I started myfitnesspal about a month ago and it was great for the three weeks or so, but then I slacked off and deleted my account and created another one to start over. About into the second week, it started to look like this: I'd weight myself…

How many calories am I burning still? (bf'ing moms)
Hey guys! I took a little hiatus from MFP to see how well I would do without tracking and I think it was a little too soon! :blushing: I put on about 3-4 lbs in about a month and a half or so. I know it's not a lot of weight, and I was out of service for a few weeks after having an emergency appendectomy last month. So, I…

Be realistic.
Daily Inspiration for September 13, 2010 Katie Jay, MSW Be realistic. Are you a perfectionist? Do you tend to give up and overeat if you can't be perfect with your food? The reality is making one mistake does not mean you have to throw in the towel. You don't have to be perfect; just be honest with yourself. When you start…

Logging exercise advice needed!
I don't typically log my cleaning, cooking, and that kind of thing as exercise (even though it's an option). But today I refinished my hardwood floor in the living room. And I feel like I worked my tush off! I made a concious effort while I was doing it to keep my core tight. Because I spent to much time working on it, I…

A Liquid Diet? Anyone??
Has anyone ever tried a liquid diet to jump start their weight loss? I have seriously been contemplating doing this in order to get some pounds off quickly. I would, of course, take a supplement everyday but drink a few shakes and eat a sensible dinner. I think my being stalled at 198 for about a month is ridiculous. If…

I'm happy about the bagginess and going down sizes but I can't afford it anymore. Where can I get cheap jeans (clothes) as…

Remarks others have made about your weight...
Well, let's see...one time was in the hospital and I had the mother of the person in the semi-private room with me, stop and say "You know, sometimes food can be your enemy". I was completely taken aback, somehow having people who are complete strangers to you making remarks just totally freaked me out. I am an ex-smoker…

What word would you rather have people...
describe you as (that is if they absolutely feel the need to): big, large, fat, heavy, overweight, fluffy, obese, plump, plus-size, chunky, hefty, and tubby. For some reason, the ones that bother me the most are big and obese.
