I really enjoy playing Just Dance 2 on our Wii so I thought that I could also purchase other games as well to supplement my exercise. I just noticed just how many fitness games there are! Jillian Michaels, Biggest Loser, EA Active, Wii Fit.. the list goes on and on! Before I spend money on something I may not even like, I…

Common Weightlifting Mistakes
Cardinal Sins of Weightlifting posted by Tamar Schreibman We're always being told what we should be doing a the gym: go faster, harder, slower; use a medicine ball; buy a band! But perhaps more important are the things we shouldn't do during a workout. In fact, when's the last time you paid close attention to your weight…

Calories burned on machines
Are the counts accurate? I never know whether to trust them. For example, one the EFX (precor), I can easily burn 300 calories. On a Life Fitness elliptical, I worked harder and for double the time to burn the same amount.

Medicine Ball Experience
Just wanted to share my experience with my small non bouncy medicine ball and would like to hear some feedback from others that have used them. So I was at the gym and I saw that they had some different medicine balls there, so i picked one up and started tossing it around. It was pretty fun and I seemed to be getting a…

Exercise Is So Boring! Help?!
Ok, I don't like to exercise, it's not that I can't do it, it's the sheer boredom that gets to me! I can easily do 30 minutes on my Gazelle or Cardio Twister or go for a walk but I'm having a hard time getting myself motivated to even do it in the first place. I have my play list that I use and that seems to help but how…

More yoga than cardio
Right now I do a blend of cardio and yoga. I'm getting more into yoga though, but I read somewhere you don't lose weight doing it, and the calories burned in the fitness log seem quite low. I find this strange, considering how hard it can be and how lean 99% of my classmates are. Does anyone practice yoga as their primary…

shoveling
I usually do 30 minutes of very brisk walking on the treadmill each night. However, given that I was lucky enough to come home to 6 inches of heavy wet snow covering my driveway, I shoveled instead. Do you think 45 minutes of shoveling constitutes exercise for today?

My son is almost 7 months old, and I don't have too much more weight to lose, I guess I got lucky. But I still want to lose a few pounds. I hardly have any time. Can I count this as exercise?
My coworker and I spend our lunch hour walking up and down our two-story work building. It's 1/8 of a mile long, we walk down one end, up the stairs, down the hall, then down the stairs and so on for 60 minutes. We usually work up a mild sweat, my heart rate goes up on the stairs and we end up doing maybe 16 sets of…

Walking to lose weight
The only activity I can consistently do to exercise is walking. I do lift weights occasionally, but walking is what I enjoy. I normally walk between 3-5 miles daily, at 4.0 pace with 2% incline. This normally burns 500-700 calories which is great. But I was wondering if there were other tricks I could do while walking to…

Does anyone use an exercise ball as their chair at work?
I just bought one and brought it into work today, however, even fully inflated, I sit too low at my desk to use my keyboard. I bought a 75cm ball. Do you have any suggestions on how to elevate the ball so I sit properly at my desk while on it?

Manual vs. Electric Treadmill
I am going to be buying a used treadmill ASAP. I am seeing a lot of treadmills that say they are manual (meaning they have no motor... you propel it at the rate you are walking/running). Does anyone have any experience with a manual treadmill? I have used plenty of electric ones, but I never a manual. Do you recommend? Not…

running in the snow
The land is full of white snowy stuff and the wind is cold. Oh how I wish it were warmer than this. The sub zero climate is a real turn off, but this big grizzly man must remain in movement or I will gain from the winter and Jack Frost's mean temper. Anyways, I want to run outside but I don't want to take the chance of…
