Seaweed, sodium, and confusion
I love seaweed salad. I grab it prepared at the supermarket or fish store, sushi restaurants, wherever. Miso soup. And its been recommended to me that i throw some dried seaweed into my green smoothies. Ive read how healthy it is over and over. Its logical enough, that the stuff grows in saltwater and is ridiculously high…

Measuring food portions?
I just bought a food scale to help me with accurately counting my calories. It measures by weight and has a measuring cup. My question is on fresh fruits and veggies, do I measure by the weight? Or by the cup? The reason I ask is because when I measure by weight 2 oz of broccoli shows on the measuring cup as a full cup of…

Taking in more fiber without a ton of calories
Hello - I am struggling to take in a high amount of fiber without going too far over on calories. I mean, 2 cups of steamed brocolli is only like 4 grams of fiber, and not many calories - but beans have a higher fiber count, also high in calories. My doctor says I need to take in 30+ grams every day (!!) and I just don't…

HEALTHY meal ideas...
okay so I'm looking to add some variety to my diet. I find myself choosing the same things over and over, and although they're healthy choices, one person can only eat so many egg white omelets, bowls of oatmeal, salad, and grilled chicken breast. the issue is, I need it to be rather convenient and nothing that is too…

Calories too high?
I've used a few different calculators and all have suggested that I eat around 1900-1930 calories in order to lose weight. That seems FAR too high and I honestly can't eat that much. Is it okay to eat around 1300-1500 instead or is there something wrong with doing that??

the paleo challenge
I'm confident that everyone has heard the word, "paleo" in the last six months, but the question is, do you know what it means and/or understand how it relates to you? The popular book titled "The Paleo Diet" was published in the fall of 2005 and has been revered as the most nutritious diet on the planet. Everyone is on…

Vegetarian vs. Vegan
I'm vegetarian, and I'm thinking about going vegan (the only thing that would really be hard for me is avoiding yoghurt, as I'm practically addicted to Chobani). Are there any vegetarians/vegans out there that can give me insight into the transition and whether or not it's worth it?

my first noticeable NSV
After getting out of the shower today (and I hate looking at myself unclothed right now) I did notice that the back fat is just a little less fatty today! Put on the bra and the somewhat formfitting t-shirt, and took a look again....yes it's true! The roll that protrudes from under the band of my bra is little more smooth…

Can We Get an Average Calories on MFP already??
I can't believe MFP has no report showing average calories... unless I'm missing something (?). It would take a programmer about 20min to add this functionality. Does anyone else want this?? How about we all post that that we want this feature here and see what happens??:…

I feel like I'm eating WAY too much, will I lose weight?
I've used MFP in the past, but I always ate around (or under) 1200 calories for a couple of weeks so that I could lose 10lbs quickly over the course of a couple weeks. Basically, I used MFP wrong! Now I'm back with a goal of about 40lbs to lose (became a student, went on holiday, family issues lead me to gain a lot of…

Eating in the Morning VS Eating at Night
I've heard that your digestion is better in the morning, which is part of the reason why breakfast should be the biggest meal of the day. I was wondering, though, since I'm on a skewed schedule -- I normally don't go to bed until about three or four, so I don't wake up until eleven or twelve -- if this would still be true…
