Good Carbs & Fat
What foods do you personally feel are the "good" carbs and the "good" fats? I always think of EVOO and Avocado as good fats. Granola is another good one. It isn't low-cal by any means, but it has such good, healthy ingredients. (the kashi, maybe not all!)

Caffeine consumption and drinking water
I may be the only person who didn't know this but I thought I would post it for others. I just read in Jillian Michaels book, "Making the Cut" that we should drink 8 oz of extra water for every caffeinated beverage that we consume. (I drink 4 cups of coffee every morning-it's a vice that I wasn't willing to give up, but as…

Luna bars!
I just discovered these yummmmmmy bars in the health food section of my grocery store and decided to try them.. So far, the Apple Cinnamon, Peanut Butter Cookie, and Iced Oatmeal Raisin have rocked my world. They're wonderful for breakfast with a glass of milk, or as an afternoon snack. Anyone else love them?

slim-fast?
I was wondering what people's experiences with slim-fast have been like? I am not big on meal replacements...i LOVE food and would rather just try to make healthier choices but I have heard something about using them as a "replacement food" like instead of having a capuccino with whipped cream in the afternoon have a…

Eat Smart food scale...
OK, I admit that I am a bit of a measuring nut. I always have my measuring cups handy when I make anything. I measure my 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 1 Tablespoon of peanut butter, cereal, etc. But it's been an eye opener actually weighing the food!! Especially for meat, fruit, and other things that I wasn't sure exactly the cal…

Dempsters Ancient Grains Bread?
Does anyone have any information on bread made with ancient grains? It's my new favorite bread, and I love the chunky, grainy texture. I'm wondering if it's as nutritious as some other bread choices might be. Are the whole grains going to be digestible if they're not made into a flour first? Are grainy breads in general…

So, this isn't going to be a post about what sweetners are and aren't good for you, so please, lets not start that debate. It's been done many times already. I'm posting this, because I used splenda and splenda brown sugar in a recipe last night, and when I was trying to figure out the calories by serving I discovered…

Any Veggies out there??
I am a vegetarian (lacto-ovo, so I eat dairy and occasionally eggs). I have many ideas and meals that I have been eating over the years but looking for others to swap. I particularly love cooking with beans and grains as they seem to be most filling. Anyone have some new ideas?? Thanks! Brenna

Would freezing yogurt
make it lose any nutritional value? I've got a few containers of Yoplait 99% Fat Free Orange Cream Yogurt sitting in the freezer. They're yummy and take about 40 minutes to eat (so it forces me to eat slowly). They're my sort of ice cream thing. But it occurred to me, would freezing the yogurt take out nutritional value? I…

Hello Everyone, For the past two days I (as well as my boyfriend, his uncle, and cousin) have been suffering from food poisoning ( we believe it to be so- we started feeling sick hours after the resturant, and that was the only meal we had all eaten together in the past few days) Either way, I have been drinking lots of…
