How to fail (I should know)
If I am an expert at anything, it is probably failing at weight loss. I have tried many times and failed just as many. But, hopefully, I have learned from my mistakes and I am happy to share some experience here. 1. If you start off with the attitude that you are going to lose that excess weight as fast as you can and eat…

Calorie Question
I have a question...I usually input all the food I've eaten in the day, and then I put in my excersize. Because I burned 500 calories at the gym, does that mean I have to eat an extra 500 Calories? That's a lot of food, but lately I have been "in the green" by a couple hundred calories. Is that safe and healthy?

transition to Weigh Watchers
I've been following MFP for awhile now and I've been stuck for awhile now so I'm thinking of switching direction and try to follow Weight Watchers for a bit to see if I can break myself of some bad habits I'm getting. I've done weight watchers in the past so I'm very familiar with it. But I want to keep logging my food on…

What are your tips/suggestions for...
people (like me, for instance:) who would love to walk but doing so presents a degree of difficulty (I walk with a cane, and consider myself something along the lines of the weeble-wobble people that Fisher Price makes). I fell (again) yesterday, and have to admit that even though it sounds funny (you know the…

Food Bully's
Why is it that people try and make you eat like them. I have recently given up eating sugar and find where ever I go if I turn down a cake or a wine I get the same scenario full of pressure and taunts! Person: "here have a cup cake" Me: "no thanks I'm fine" Person "Why not? you're not on some stupid diet are you?" Me:…

Heart rate= calories burned..
When I do the arc trainer. My heart rate is always between 130-150 and it says that within 10 minutes i burn like 100 calories. I do it for 35 minutes and I just log that I burned 300 calories. Does that sound accurate? I dont have an hrm. i bough a cheap one..and it sucks.

Travelling for Work!
I guess this is a general moan as much as anything else! I've been travelling with my work for the last 2 weeks and the combination of the break of my usual routine as well as unfamiliar food choices and having to eat out 3 meals a day are really taking their toll on the diet... It's weird, even though I obviously don't…

So, I have been dealing with a wicked recurring sinus/respiratory infection for the last 2 months, and today I began taking an albuterol inhaler and am back on antibiotics (doxycycline) , in addition to my allergy medication. poll: your picture
do you use your mfp picture to motivate yourself? is it the best representation of you, the worst or somewhere in the middle? if you choose an avatar instead of a picture, is it because you were embarrassed about taking your picture or did you choose it for a different reason (like privacy)?

Upped Calories...Weight Loss... WHAT?!?
I have never posted a topic, but I wanted to share what I've been dealing with lately. About 5 years ago, I started weight watchers and was successful at losing 80lbs. I lost the weight a very rapid pace, through lifestyle change and exercise alone. However, after graduating from college, and finding a new group of very…

NOT pregnant but stopped having periods
I have stopped having my periods the past couple months. I am not pregnant though. I have had a blood test and numerous pregnancy tests done. I am a little concerned that my weight loss may be causing this. Has anyone other girls noticed this problem?

how many calories should i be eating while pregnant?
i hear you should increase your calorie intake by 300 when pregnant. what if i was dieting at 1200 calories per day? in order to maintain my weight, i should eat 1500 per day. add 300, i should be eating 1800 calories per day. is this correct or should i stay at 1500. that seems low, but i just don't want to go overboard…

Attention. - Brag on!
Sometimes we just need a thread to brag, no? Post a picture of yourself that makes you happy. One where you think you look damn good. Go on, do it. Here is mine. I went to a wedding shower this weekend and wore a dress that I purchased several months ago that was too small on me. It fits great now.

Question about logging water...
I have to admit that I pretty much don't drink water. I drink "tons" and I do mean "tons" of unsweetened iced tea with lemon. I am always drinking it throughout the day as I have take several medications that make your mouth and throat so parched (think Jim Carrey in Me, Myself, and Irene) that you can barely swallow…

So what do you log for food on pig-out days?
Been using MFP since Monday and it's been great at keeping me accountable. However, the weekend is fast approaching. Normally I try to be very good Monday through Friday and then the weekend I let go a little (or a lot). So if you are at parties, taking bites of this and that, or going out to eat, what do you log for food?…

Which is worse? no exercise or exercise without enough calor
I am at 1120 calories for the day. So I am already under 1200. I have enough time for about a 30 minute walk/jog on the treadmill and I would burn 200-300 calories. Then I have to go to bed so I can get up for work in 4 hours. No option for food because I am on a time crunch and if I eat now I wont tolerate the treadmill.…

how important is sugar intake?
When I first started, the, I think, "default" mode was to only track calories, carbs, fat, and protein. And I figured since sugar is a carb, I didn't need to worry about it separately. But then I noticed other peoples' food diaries have sugar tracked, too. I do have a belly, so I'm wondering if it's absolutely necessary…

Dear Scale,
i realize that this must be hard for you to go through...i know that you are firmly entrenched in your ways, which is to pop up a number starting with a '2' and ending with an upper teen. however, you are going to have to get used to the fact that things are changing. and although you moved up about half a pound this week,…

high calories to low calories to high calories
I saw recently someone said that if you change your calories from high to low each day that it keeps your metabolism moving instead of slowing down and getting used to it. For example, have 1200 one day, 1800 the next day, 1200 the next day, 1800 the next day etc... has anyone tried this and has it worked for them? Or…
