ZUMBA anyone??
Hey MFP world!! I had a question about Zumba. I love zumba, and I do it atleast twice a week ontop of going to the gym. To me, just less boring and tedious. I have looked up online how many calories the avg person burns after 30-60 minutes of zumba, but I know this site is more specific because it takes your individual…

Advice for weight training & toning
So this weekend I bought a 5lb dumbell to tone my arms - I have two things I know to do (bicep curl and tricep extension), but how often should I do this? I'm using a small weight a) because I'm just starting out and b) because I want to tone, not get that female bodybuilder look. Any other things I should do? (My focus is…

Not trying to be lazy....but...
I realized how important it is to take it easy when you did something while working out! I pulled something in my leg awhile ago. It went away after I exercised it "mildly", then came back again after I worked it out a little too hard. I have been lightly stretching it the past few days (doing some yoga) and it's feeling…

P90X and other versions
I've been reading / seeing lots of post & vids about the P90 series of tapes, and such, and from my understanding they come with a full diet / nutrition plan. How important is following the nutrition plan vs the exercises ? I don't do the cooking (unless you count nuking my food cooking) and the wife loves to cook but not…

Don't take this advice sitting down!
Newsflash: Department Of Health And Human Services Recommends Standing At Least Once A Day! I know we're all busy at our computers and televisions, but HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has recently advised that we all make an effort to *stand* at least once a day. It may be hard at first, so use a chair or wall as support…

I wanted to get an idea of which heart rate monitors work well for those of you that have them....I know that I don't want a chest strap one, if possible. Looking to see which ones are accurate and not too expensive. Thanks

Get Your Heart Rate on Target
Ask Jillian Michaels Get Your Heart Rate on Target Q: When I'm doing cardio, my target heart rate is supposed to be at 85 percent. How do I know what that is, and how do I measure it during my workout? A: To determine your target heart rate, you should first figure out your maximum heart rate (MHR). This is done by…

P90X Weight Loss
Anyone else not lost any weight on P90X? I started P90X about 1 1/2 months after completing my first marathon. In that time, I had dropped 18 additional lbs, and am within 7lbs of my goal. I'm not sure my goal is realistic, as I started the same "size" as I was when I weighed 7lbs less. Not sure home much is just being in…

How Many Calories Are You Really Burning? (Walking vs. Runni
Just some interesting information. How Many Calories Are You Really Burning? If you think running and walking both torch the same number of calories per mile, you better put down that cookie. Belt or not?
Doing squats and deadlifts in my routine the last few weeks, I haven't been using a belt. Afraid to go too high on weight because if you use improper form, you can really screw yourself up. I've read a few articles on not using a belt, it will also work your core, voiding any need for crunches, and ab work. I know it…

Question about Polar HRM
So lately when I use my Polar HRM it always seems to slip and I feel it doesn't give me an accurate reading. For instance, I did Turbo Jam using it for 25 minutes and it said I only burned like 10 calories. I could be almost winded and my heart racing and it say my heart rate was only at 50. I can't get it to stay. Do I…

C25K - worried about W5D2
I'm suppose to do W5D2 tomorrow morning. I'm worried about jogging for 8 min straight. When I started this on Jan 3rd, I could barely make it through the 1 min jog. So, I know I've come a long way, but this is the first time I've been worried about the next level. I don't even want to think about W5D3. I'd love to hear…
