Is there a good weight/strength training video for beginners
I would like to start some strength moves. I do tons of cardio, but very minimal work with weights. I do not have any sort of gym membership, nor do I plan to get one, so that's out - it needs to be something I can do at home. Any recommendations?

Morning vs. evening workout?
Hi all! I really love morning workouts, but due to scheduling conflicts, I've recently had to shift all my cardio to late at night (I'm talking about like 9-10pm!). I've heard that late night workouts can affect sleep and induce insomnia, but I've never really had that problem. Do you know of any advantages/disadvantages…

Just wondering, to track my calories from aquafit, what would I track it as? We do about 20 mins marching/arms/legs cardio stuff (depends on how much you participate but I try to keep tempo and push myself), then ten or so of deep water leg lifts etc, then about twenty minutes of floating weights before a ten minute cool…

Does your HRM calculate calories burned for you?
Hey - does your heart rate monitor calculate calories burned for you? If so, what kind do you have? Or does it just calculate your HR and you figure out calories burned from that? I got a HRM for Christmas and it doesn't look like it tells me calories burned, but from some other posts I'm reading it sounds like it might be…

strength training calories
Does anyone log calories burned from their strength training? (and why or why not?) MFP doesn't give the option, just curious why!? Last week I kept my HRM on the for my weight lifting sessions at the gym and usually burned around 300 calories in about 45-60 minutes. Why doesn't MFP want to acknowledge these calories? I…

pilates reformer vs mat classes
Over the weekend I went to my first pilates class with the reformer machines. It really worked my muscles and it felt like a strength training session! However, they are quite pricey at $75/hour. Have any of you taken pilates reformer classes, and how are they better or different from the pilates mat classes? (I've only…

Exercise with lower back injuries
I need to change my routine. I have discs in my lower back that have been ruptured 3 times. I used to do weights, but that causes my discs to swell and cause leg pain. Sit ups cause pain. Weight lifting does not burn calories?
I am new here. I noticed that it appears the fitness diary only logs calories and time spent working out for cardio workouts only and not lifting? Is there a way to account for weight lifting to the goals? As far as I know, building muscle along with cardio is a good way to shed weight.
