I was surprised at how much I craved good, healthy food and actually I was a little down (but not…

Why eat with exercise?
Just curious why exactly we eat with exercise? It would seem, especially with cardio, our primary goal is to burn fat. If we carb pack, our body will store the excess carbs as glycogen to be burnt quickly. This is good if you're in a competetive race. However, its bad if you're trying to lose weight because you're not…

Sansone Walk at Home users, HRM comparisons needed!
Just received my HRM in the mail today and used it with my Leslie Sansone Walk at Home DVD. I did 3 miles, which according to Leslie Sansone's site should burn about 375 calories. According to MFP, its also around 370 calories, this is assuming a 12 min mile/ 5mph, which is what the DVD claims. My HRM says 615 calories…

To eat or not to eat! (before or after!)
Hi everyone, I keep getting told by different people that's it's best to eat before working out and from others best to eat after. I don't really like eating beforehand, of course I leave time in between but I still don't feel very good doing it. Once and for all, what's the most beneficial way? Before or after!?!

Xflowsion Yoga?
Has anyone done it before? I tried a class yesterday and it kicked my butt!! I do aerobics 3 times a week and run 2 times. So I thought I was pretty fit - Nope. My muscles are so sore - it's a nice feeling. But ouch! What a difference a new workout does!

Accurate?
I got my new polar last week and I did pilates with it on and it said I burned 263 in one hour! Then today I did the treadmill and it said I burned 180 calories in 18 minutes which is MORE than what the treadmill itself said. The treadmill said I burned 105 calories. Is this really accurate? I thought the treadmills would…

Where are all of the runners today? I completed my first half marathon this morning. I have run the distance before, but always on my own. It was a great course.....mostly downhill. My leg that has been bothering me for several weeks was fine until about mile 10. I stopped twice to stretch it and finished strong. I hope…

My husband & I just discovered this system (I guess we're a little slow:smile: ). I was just wondering who's been using it and what you think. Do you think it's pretty accurate? Is it just for running/walking or will it track any activity you do, i.e. aerobics, Power 90, Volley Ball, etc.

Question about HRM??
I bought one a couple of weeks ago. When I use it for exercise, it's always way higher than what is on MFP exercise picks. Example: I walked/ran my dogs for 30 min today, and HRM said I burned 536 calories. I think the site says around 120 something. Something isn't right here??? What do y'all think. Thanks for your help.…

Just Smile!
I HATE exercising, but I have a strategy to change that. I earned a bachelor's in psychology, which make me no expert, but I did learn a few things. Apparently, if a person engages in an undesired activity, but fakes a smile while they do it, the brain will associate positive feelings with the undesired activity. So... I…

Just bought a timex heart rate monitor and have a question
...about maximum heart rate. They recommend that you do two tests with it to find out your max heart rate - one's a step test and the other's a chair test. Now, I have a question: Do I REALLY need to do that or can I just go with what's normal for my age - the age charts they have in the gyms, for example? I'm quite fit,…
