A Question About Shred.....
Sorry if this has already been asked...I searched and couldn't find anything! I got Jillian's Shred today, but I am wondering.....is there a workout plan? Like should you do Level 1 a certain number of times before moving on to Level 2? Once you move on to Level 2, do you do BOTH 1 and 2 or just 2? I'm just confused about…

more on turbo jam.
For all you turbo jammers...I found this on another web site. I weigh a bit more than this but give or take 15-20 pounds, I don't think that it will make that much of a diff. Of course, it will also depend on how hard you are working. This person tracked this with a HRM. This is an average of 3 weeks: Kick and Punch Jam -…

I have a hard…

more ? science of calorie burn
Yesterday I posted on the accuracy of heart rate monitors and there were a number of comments made that have me thinking again (this is never good). As we become more fit our hearts become more efficient which means that it takes a longer or harder effort to get our heart rates up. I know we want to get our heart rates up…

excercising in bits and pieces
I've been trying to walk instead of taking the car when I do errands close by. If I walk to the store (5 min each way), walk to a teacher's meeting (8 mins. each way etc.) walk to the mailbox (4 mins each way) etc., I accumulate a total of 30 minutes of walking or more a day, albeit in small spurts. I read somewhere (I…

Which beachbody dvd would you recommend? I'm just looking for a solid cardio workout. I do weight training 2x week with a trainer so I don't need to lift as I do cardio (or should I say, I don't want to). I'm in pretty good shape now, I just want something to toss into the mix of stairmaster, running, and elliptical.…

The best heart monitor
I posted a question last week regarding calorie counters on treadmills and their accuracy. A number of people responded (thanks), but many said they used a heart monitor instead to get a better calorie count. Any suggestions on a good heart monitor? I have seen them on the web anywhere from $50 to $400 (that includes GPS).

Accuracy of Heart Rate Monitors
I'm hoping one of you personal trainers or researchers can answer this one.... I thought that you measured metobolic rate by determining your body’s exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide while at rest. If that is the case then how does a heart rate monitor give you an accurate reading of calories burned by measuring how…
