Buff guys....
Hello  My boyfriend is tall and skinny. He's real active so I imagine he's burning tons. He eats maybe 4000 calories a day? He wants to buff up just a little but we're totally clueless. What can you tell me about foods, protein, exercise etc? Thanks! :flowerforyou:

SBF...Sept 12
Good morning, I'm so glad you all are here. Just feeling mushy again. Probably cause I still don't feel good. I haven't been logging my food the last two days. I have been wanting comfort foods. I haven't gained back my pound so I guess that's good! Doctor's appointment went great yesterday. Did you all read my other post?…

best for fat burning? intervals???
Lots of discussion about this lately which has made me question my workouts. My stats: 120lbs, weight train (with trainer 2x week - 1 hour), cardio (stairmaster, running, jumping rope - 6x week, 45-60min). I'm in pretty good shape. Like all women, I desire that flat tummy....I dont' have it. I carry all my fat in my belly…

WHAT TYPE OF WORKOUT WORKS BEST FOR YOU?
 OK, I HATE RUNNING, BUT I CONSTANTLY HEAR THAT IT IS THE BEST WAY TO DROP POUNDS AT A FASTER RATE. I AM OBVIOUSLY A RESULTS "NOW" PERSON. I AM HAVING A HARD TIME KEEPING MOTIVATED TO DO RUNNING. I AM NOT A BIG FAN OF THE ELLIPTICAL EITHER, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT ANYONE ELSE, BUT DO YOUR FEET FALL ASLEEP TOO? I HAVE THEN…

Any Gin Miller fans around?
I like Gin's straight forward approach, though I'm not really at a fitness level to manage her workouts without modifications. (and she's a major fan of lunges, which I loathe.) In fact, I just got the Salsa Walk / Straight Up Stick dvd, so I'm looking forward to trying that one. Any other Gin fans around?

Stronger, Better, Faster Sept 11
Happy Birthday to Rach! Ike has taken a right turn and is now heading for planet Houston. I really hope they don't have to evacuate Houston - it's the fourth largest city in the US! Now that we are on the west side of the storm we are out of any danger - and out of most our rain :grumble: Might be able to go for the bike…

Motivating my kids to exercise
I would like to instill healthy patterns of exercise in my children. I don't however want to be an exerciser enforcer. My daughter is 8 and is a bean pole. My son is 10 and has chunked up a bit over the last couple years. I was a chubby kid and unfortunately for him, he is built just like me. Long story short..my mother…

Is yoga a good workout?
I just discovered that FitTV is one of the channels I get! They show different yoga programs on there all the time, and I figure that's a good way to get a good workout without the expense of taking classes. Do any of you practice yoga, and can you tell me a little more about it?

Strength Training question
Newbie here. Just joined and gym and I'm getting started on an exercise routine with strength training. The gym I go to uses the Technogym system with a Smartkey. I don't know if anyone else uses it, but basically it's a computer chip that programs your routine and tells you what weight to put each machine on. Yesterday I…

Good morning, Ran a nice 4.5 miles this morning at 4:50am! I can't believe how good I felt considering I was up half the night with my 3 year old. It really makes all the difference...
So right now I'm sitting here, already finished with dinner, and staring at my food journal with 500 calories left to eat and no idea how to fill them up. There are so many days though when I am struggling to find something I can actually have for dinner that won't send me soaring above my Cals. So why is today different?…

Stationary Bike
Does anyone know where I could buy a thingie to make my bike stationary? I love riding my bike and I was thinking of joining a gym this winter, but if I could make use of my bike all year round that would be great. Also, how much do they differ in price? If I get a cheaper one will that affect how well it works?

HRM...can't be right?
I just started using my Polar HRM again (it's a P4 or 6?) Anyway, I have used it the last few workouts and the calories burned seems very low compared to what MFP and my stairmaster says. I do 45 minutes of stairmaster at highest level - average of the two has me burning about 500 calories (I'm 117lbs). My HRM has me…

Need help with running goal
Hi There, So here is my fitness goal for the end of the summer...back in high school we had to run for twelve minutes and us girls got 100% if we completed 24 laps around the basketball court in that time. Whomever suggested MapMyRun...
Thank you! :flowerforyou: I forgot who it was, but I recently saw it on here and tried it tonight. So cool! I mapped out a 4 1/2 mile run and went with my bf. It took 53 minutes! I am ridiculously disappointed with my time LOL, but then the site can't account for hills, and there are a lot of those out here in the…

Need more mom activities for calorie burning
It seems like all the activities I do are altered slightly because I do them with my babies. I have twin 3.5 month old babies the other day I pushed a stroller with them in it while I did my walking and today I did step aerobics for 1/2 an hour with one of them in a sling on me! There's no listing for "Step Aerobics with…
