Slim in 6 Ramp it Up?
I just got the tapes today (thanks, arewethereyet! ) and I did the Ramp it Up workout which lasted about 45 minutes. Anyone out there in MFP Land have the program, and do y'all know about how many calories it should burn, or what I should log it as?

Are the calories-burned estimates here really low?
I did about 75 minutes worth of weight lifting today, and this site says I burned a little over 200 calories. Another website says 400. When I did ellipticals for over an hour yesterday, the machines said I burned 768 calories. I can't remember the exact number, but this site estimated way less than that. Yesterday I went…

Recumbent bikes
Ok I have been searching for a good used or decently priced recumbent for some time. I have a few in my sites if I can get to them before they sell. I have read lots of reviews and I would go test them if there was a place that had them near where I lived. But since there is not this is how I need to go about it. I have…

Debating about 5k
Our hospital is having a 10k/5k run/walk race in Oct. I am debating about whether or not to do the 5k. I am very very overweight but I have discovered that I love to walk. I have only been exercising for about a month now and I only get to get out and really walk on the weekend when my hubby is off. I have to go to the…

Workout DVD Swap
Okay, this has been mentioned on the boards a few times but it has never really taken off. I am proposing a workout DVD swap. I just bought two Leslie Sansone walking DVDs without realizing that they are for use with a treadmill, and since I don't have a treadmill yet, I can't use them. That being said, these DVDs are…

Turbo Jam or Slim in 6
Does anyone have a copy of either of these work outs that they are willing to sell? I have heard great things about both work outs and I really want to try one (especially Turbo Jam). I am a student teacher and not working this fall so the $80 for turbo jam is out of my budget for now. Let me know if anyone has any for…

Which exercise should I take up - Pilates/Aerobics or yoga??
I'm a diabetic, with asthma and suffer occassionally from bouts of psoriasis. I really need to lose weight and keep it off for health reasons - and obviously for my own self-esteem. I really can't decide which exercise to take up - does anyone do any of these exercises? I walk the dog and walk about all day with my work,…

Do you trust treadmill calorie counts?
I log about 35 miles a week of treadmill walking. Bad knees and back prevent running. I usually have the treadmill at the highest incline - #15 and walk about 5 mph. The calorie count is usually about 1450 when I enter my current age and weight. Does this sound right or should I be discounting this count? Sorry, I posted…

Yoga for Love Handles
So....I've been doing Yoga using these free podcasts on iTunes a couple times a week. Last night, I found a new one called "Yoga for Love Handles," so thought I'd try it. It really works your side muscles, too! This morning I woke up and my sides feel "tired." You know, like muscles feel tired when you work out. But I…

Running in the rain
I have a 5K race tomorrow and the forecast is calling for a 70% chance of rain. I have never ran in the rain before and I am wondering if there is anything special or different that I should do when running in the rain. Wear something different? Things to remember? Thanks, MFPers.

Stronger, Better, Faster Sept 13
Weekend is here, but alas, no rain for us :grumble: We have hurricane Ike to our east and we missed the remains of a tropical storm from the Pacific to our west. On the upside, we are going to have a great week temperature wise - a low of 58 degrees on Wednesday morning - might need a coat  Yesterday I had a good…

eating exercise calories?
I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but I notice that the calories I burn exercising are automatically added to my calories for the day. Am I supposed to eat them if I still want to lose? thanks! :flowerforyou:

i went over by HOW much?
Uuuuuh, so I'm on a weekend trip and we went to the bar last night. I started with a rum and diet coke so I could be good, but honestly I thought it tasted like crap so I switched to my beloved long islands. My boyfriend says I had four, plus two apple shots which I cannot figure out how to log. But even without logging…

Arc Trainer
HELP! Anyone know a comparable exercise that I can put in for the gym's arc-trainer? This piece of equipment is like running (little to no impact on my joints), but soooo much better for me.... Your legs arc up in the front and you don't have a big impact on the down side. I usually run 6 miles in an hour on the…

FREE TREADMILL????!!!
I am SOOOOO excited! I've been planning to earmark some $$ and scope out a used treadmill on Craigslist for about a month now. I know it's going to be getting colder soon, and I want to be prepared for those days. Right now, I go to my gym every other day. On days I don't go, I walk about 30-35 minutes at 3.5 mph with 2…

Turbo Jam Calories Burned??
I'm curious how those of you (if any) that do Turbo Jam calculate your calories burned? I've looked at a few websites that calculate that sort of thing for you and it says around 300 calories (for me at 208 lbs) for 20 minutes and 600 for the 40 minute routines. Does this seem accurate? I've been logging WAY less than…
