Victorious Victoria Day Fitness Challenge April 18th
Hello again weekend! Do you guys realize that a month has past in the challenge already? I'm going to have to make my weekly calendar harder starting this Sunday. I should put yoga on there. It would be easy next week since I'm teaching 4 classes, but after that it would be difficult. So yesterday I took grandmother-in-law…

Wow . . . yoga! Anyone else feel this . . .?
I've been trying a yoga workout video lately, and I made myself the goal to do yoga every day this week. So today I'm getting a little better at the poses and the pacing so I'm focusing more on the breathing, and when I was done I could feel the air in my chest. I swear parts of my lungs that haven't been inflated in ten…

How much do you burn chasing 3 toddlers?
Well I normally go to the gym in the mornings dropping my 2 year old off at the gym day care(thank goodness for these day cares). However my little sister is on bed rest with her third baby and she already has a 1 and 2 year old and her hubby works out of state during the week. So no gym for me for the next couple…

Hiking the App. Trail
So, since I've been feeling better and better, and I'm slowly starting to get in better shape, I figured I'd do something fun for my vacation this year. I've only ever gone on short hikes (over a mountain and back... something that could be done in a day). And I figure that getting water, some MRE's, and walking is going…

Final tuneup for my 5K
I'm actually gonna go for time today, I have measured out a 5K at work and going to run it during my lunch break (I bring my lunch anyway, so I can eat at my desk while working). Wish me luck. My goal for today is to run the 5K in 21 minutes even. If I can do that, it is a 7 minute mile, or for all you tred mill people out…

Stooopidest Question ever ;)
This question is going to sound dumber then the way I spelt stupid. But I am asking anyway ... Nothing ventured, nothing gained. What is the difference between a walk and a hike? Is it time, terrain, the shoes? What's the qualifier? I was born and raised in Michigan. Lived everywhere from Detroit to…

Do you eat all the extra calories you get when you exercise?
I have seen some where some people on here burn off anywhere from 300 to 1200 calories:smile: If you burn up say....800calories ....do you eat 800 calories more that day?

When is the best time to exercise?
This question may have been addressed before, if so I apologies. I have been walking everyday for an hour per day and I just wanted to know , is it better to walk in the morning or afternoon, or does it matter?

running question for the ladies...
So for about two weeks out of the month I get really horrible menstrual-feeling cramps whenever I run (about 10 minutes into my run). If I don't stop, they get worse and worse and I feel like I'm going to throw up  its really bad. I've tried taking advil beforehand, but that doesn't really help. The only thing I can…

what exercise do you do?
I walk and I barely burn 100 calories. I've seen people put that they burn 500 calories in a workout what are you doing to burn that many. I know I need to up my workout but I don't know what to do, walking is easy and I know I can usually get in about 30 minutes of it a day.

My butt hurts
My butt, thighs, and calves all hurt really back but i promised myself that i would go for a walk EVERYDAY at work... i even went yesterday before it snowed.. I will admit that i didn't go as far as i usually do but it was cold!! Do any of you just have those days when you don't want to exercise but you know that you HAVE…

excess belly and love handle jiggles
I am by no mean over weight..just a little soft in the mid region which keeps me self conscious and not looking forward to bikini season. Does anyone have any suggestions on what types of activities to incoporate into daily excercise that will target that area and firm it up besides your crunchs and such? i ususally do an…

Getting metabolism back to baseline
Ever since I was about 7 years old I have been overweight. In fact, I can still remember the very first time the other kids called me fat. Its weird how memories like that get etched into your mind, isn't it? Anyways, in response I stopped eating breakfast. After all, the common thought was, "eat less and lose weight."…

Victorious Victoria Fitness Challenge April 17th
It's going to be an exercise weekend so watch out! I've been asked to: go for a bike ride, meet someone at the gym, and go for a hike with husband. Austin in April is like fitness central. It's crazy. Yesterday I went to water aerobics. Couldn't wear the HRM so entered it under mfp calories - like just under 300. Haven't…

stretching
When are you supposed to stretch? Someone told me to do it before I started working out, someone else said that I should do it in the middle of my workout, and another person said at the end. Or does it matter?

Do you have to SWEAT to burn fat!?
Under "exercise" in MFP, nearly anything can be counted. A friend of mine told me that unless you're breaking a sweat and nearly faint AND have been working out a full half hour, you won't lose fat. True? False? Carrie

I just ran .6 miles
Ok, not really a lot, and had to do it in 2 sections, but I haven't ran for probably 35 years. Decided that the walking I was doing needed to be bumped up a bit. So, I asked my HS daughter - who is on the track team to "teach" me how to run. Much to both our surprises, I made it around our block twice!! So, now I'll ride…

Spin Class....Calories burned?
Hey Friends, I tried looking up spin class/cycling on the excercise database but it has stationary bike and then each leval of fitness. The problem with spin class is you do more interval training. For me, I sweat and my heart pounds the entire time. But I still can't consider this to be Very moderate the entire hour long…

Mowing the Lawn
I just mowed our entire lawn without the riding lawnmower, I used our push lawnmower and didn't use the thing that you squeeze to make it go. We have a large large yard. It took me 1 1/2 hours of vigorous pushing. Where do I find that? to post my burned calories.

Victorious Victoria Fitness Challenge April 16
Happy Hump Day all! I only squeaked out 30 minutes of my DVD this morning. I'm running on 3 1/2 hours of sleep due to my little one and his asthma. He really struggled with coughing last night & we were up past 11. I just couldn't manage the last 10 minutes but I will walk later when the temp goes up. We might see 70…

Motivation to "take the plunge"
Ever since December I have been going to join the "y" and start exercising- even if it's just to walk around the track- I know I will exercise of I actually pay to go somewhere and have to make time to do it. (i love exercising btw). Anyways.. One week goes by and then another and then another. I think because of my…

Best deal every if you ask me. At least for work out equiptment. Anyway, I just did 10 minuted and thought I was going to pass…

Bulky legs
I have always been cursed with naturally built legs - big thighs and big calves. Now not only are they big and muscular, they have a nice layer of fat over them. Is there any way to slim them down, besides of course doing cardio to get rid of the fat?

Question for those of you into intense or high impact workou
O.k. so I have been keeping the food journal, but what I refuse to do is obsess over calories etc everytime I do it. (Long story lol) so I have basically eaten healthy all my life. My parents, my family, my extended family. The few overweight people in our family each have serious thyroid disorders, so I can't blame it on…

Fitness buddy
One thing that has GREATLY worked for me is by having a "fitness buddy". Myself and a friend motivate each other to get in shape and eat better. It's a great way to stay in shape and also have fun with a friend. Now we actually enjoy working out and trade healthy recipes. It is so much easier to have someone to help you…
