Hello All! ... I just got a rode bike and I was hoping maybe some of you could help me out a bit... I wear a heart rate moniter and it said that I burned 586 calories in an hour. I feel like thats a lot because I know biking (well I thought) burns less than running. I am in good cardio shape from running so I figured I…

SBF2 Reboot Boogaloo July 17
Good morning.  I went for a brisk walk this morning. I did not have it in me to run. We had a rough night with Alex. We finally had to move him in our room so we could get some sleep. I didn't realize we had a newborn in the house. I woke up at 6 ish and couldn't go back to sleep. :grumble: So I figured the…

COMPARISON - OPINION
I just started cycling and have been amazed with how much calories I burn and how enjoyable it is compared to running on a treadmill! I average about 4 mph on the treadmill and it takes me over an hour to burn 300 calories. I do an average of 10-15 miles a day cycling at about 10-12 mph (sometimes consistently more at…

Hip Hop Abs anyone?
I have a friend who is a Beach Body rep, and she shared some information about this workout with me. I found it on Craigslist and I LOVE IT! I love the energy of the workouts, and man, do I sweat with it! I'm kind of a beginner, and she did say it might not be challenging for people who have a higher level of fitness. I've…

Kettlebells
Can anyone tell me what category of exercise this falls into? I have a series of dvds that vary from cardio to strength training. You are using the bells the whole time. I just don't know how to figure the calorie content? I have been told they burn approx. 1,000 calories an hour. I don't always work out for an hour so I…

exercise machine calorie counters
Do you trust the numbers they give you? Because I can burn way more calories (according to the machines at my gym) sitting down on a bike than I can running on an elliptical. Don't think so! Judging by my heart rate and sweat I am definitely doing more work on the elliptical! The machines at my gym are about 1/6 what the…

Good morning Pebbs! A rare quick post for me. We are going grocery shopping this morning, all healthy foods...I think. That will probably be the extent of my exercise. I do need to clean house and do laundry. The people may have "backed out" about bringing the furniture. At least today. I do have other people bringing…

How would you log 6 hours at an amusement park
The park was pretty empty and we walked on to most of the rides (thus very little standing in line). I was thinking 3 hours at a 2MPH pace. Sound about right?

Treadmill
I just bought a Tread Climber today and I am looking to sell my old treadmill. I paid over $500.00 for it about 5 years ago. It is in excellent condition and runs like it is brand new. Anyone have any ideas on how much I should ask for it? I am clueless.

Met with a trainer today
I joined a new gym, and with it I got a free training/orientation session. It was interesting, he told me a lot about how the body works and adjusts to the training you do. He said that strength training is the most important thing to do, inaddition to watching food intake and cardio. Oh how I wish I was rich so I could…

Must have a death wish
 First off--I have recently found that I actually LIKE to run. Go figure. I completed a 5k a couple months back and have made the decision that May 1 2010 is going to be the day I run my first half marathon. I'm terrified! I found a training schedule and I'm not looking to win any speed prizes...I just want to…

For the office peeps
After reading the recent topic on seeing how long you can hold plank, I decided to start doing small things like that during the day. Since I now drink a bunch of water, I of course have to go to the bathroom often. Yay, opportunity! So when I go for one of my many jaunts over to that special place, I now take a minute to…

shin splints? Help!
I think I may be getting shin splints. About 6 weeks ago, the only exercise I ever got was walking. Now I am taking a jazz dance class, training for a 5K, and doing some hard core circuit training. I am pushing myself quite a bit--isn't that what we're supposed to do? So, lately I have had terrible pain on the lower…

has anybody heard of or have Chung Shi or MTB or Earth sneakers. they are really good for your posture and also claim to help you loose weight because of the way they align your body therefore making you work your muscles harder while you walk.
