Making my own routine
Starting next week, I'm going to make up my own weekly routines. I have done p90x for one month now. I like it. I like most of it. I dont' find it near as intense as "making the cut" by Jillian, so I find myself trying to add intensity to it. I dont' do plyometrics, as I have foot arch issues...so I'm sure that would add…

Is it ok to try cardio with a sprained wrist?
I went to the emergency room tuesday after falling down ice skating and found out I sprained my wrist bad. Today the doctor took off the splint and recommended buying one of those velcro gloves & using it off and on for about a week. I still have quite a bit of swelling. I forgot to ask today about getting to the gym. Do…

Please help!!! Foot Pod VS GPS???
My hubby and I are looking to buy HRM's and really want something to track our running distances as well as calculate our heart rate/calorie burn not just for running but for whatever workouts we do. HRM Question or two....
OK so with seeing the threads about HRMs I decided to pull mine out... hadn't used it in forever and had to recalculate everything. I did notice it says to wear it above your heart. I am a heavy chested woman (36DD) and so I've been wearing it under my breasts and under my Enell sports bra. Should I try to wear it above? I…

Trust my HRM or Treadmill???
I just bought a rather inexpensive Heart Rate Monitor. I used it for the first time a few minutes ago. On a usual day, I will go on the treadmill and run until it tells me I burned 500 calories which is usually 60 minutes. However, today I ran for 40 minutes and the HRM said I had already reached 500 calories burned. Does…

The little things
What are some of the "little" things that you do every day to get a bit more exercise in?? I have a few things that I do, but I am always looking for more ideas :) I park my car at a parking garage that is a .6km walk away from my work, so I get that extra bit of a walk to and from each day. I also take the stairs as much…

Achilles tendon...
Went to see the doctor yesterday...My foot pain isn't plantar fasciitis, but is instead a damaged Achilles tendon. It's probably partially torn. Treatment is straight-forward, but is going to severely limit my workouts for a number of weeks (between three and twelve weeks, depending). <groan> And I had settled into such a…

Calories Burned?
How do you calculate calories burned when doing cardio/circuit training (I use a variety of dvds), when you don't have a heart rate monitor or one of those other monitors that calculate calories burned? I have been guessing and have been able to find some approx. calories burned for some of the dvds on the internet. I have…

Super long days...how to fit in exercise?
So I work in the film industry, free lance, and I am about to start a new project. Preproduction is 7 weeks, and the days are usually 10-12 hours, so not too bad. Principal photography is 6 weeks, and i usually work a minimum of 14 hours a day, and it's pretty stressful. Short duration, but this kind of schedule is not…

Burn 300
"The American College of Sports Medicine suggests a workout should expend 300 calories in order to be deemed a fat-loss workout." http://whatscookingamerica.net/HealthBeauty/HighIntensityWorkout.htm I usually burn around 250 doing a DVD workout. Maybe I'll step it up and go longer...

HRM vs Elliptical trainer
Just curious if anyone knows why there would be a 100 cal burn difference between my Polar F6HRM and the elliptical trainer? For 22min, the elliptical says I burned 296cal, my HRM says 204?? I also did 22 min on the stair mill and that was 180 cal on BOTH HRM and machine...so that was accurate...

Advice from people who take spinning?!?
So I think I was only ever on a spinning bike once when I was like 16 and had no idea what it was all about. I know it's a great workout and burns tons of calories so I'm interested in it, but most of the gyms close enough don't have it and I don't have the time to go to the farther gyms now that I work 2 jobs and go to…
