Question for the ladies...
I need help! I have been trying to run lately, but I have been having a problem: the girls. So far I have not found a sports bra that manages to keep them from bouncing. This is somewhat painful and very annoying. So far the only way i have kept them from bouncing is to wear two sports bras, but that is so restrictive that…

Running - the sacred art
Anyone read this book? It's by Dr. Warren A. Kay. It's about running as a spiritual or meditative activity. I just started it yesterday and when I went for my run last night (I'm doing the couch to 5K) I ran an extra 2 minutes. I just felt really good an inspired about what running can BE, instead of just a means to lose…

Zumba
My Zumba teacher says that Zumba burns 1000 calories an hour. This sounds like an awful lot to me, even though Zumba is a great workout. Do you think it burns that much?

Jogging Pains
Hey all- So now I'm up to jogging for a minute (go Team Gemi!) and I'm starting to notice some pain in my left shin. Of course this scares the bejeebus out of me because Shin Splints just sounds painful. How can I jog without the leg pain? Are there certain stretches I should do? Or am I still too fat to jog?:embarassed:…

Added new exercise to dull routing...
Okay y'all! I was bored with the same old, same old, so, I decided to try another form of exercise. CYCLING! I bought a 21 speed mountain bike yesterday. I did about a mile last evening and am about to head out again in a few minutes. What I'd like to know is if you all have any pointers for me. Any suggestions, you know,…

SBF2: Reboot Boogaloo! July 12th
Go see "Food, Inc" - probably the most important movie in the past 5 years. I liked the farmer who said something like, "if these companies treat their animals like objects, how do you think they treat their workers?" It's really more than just a factory farm movie though. I did about 4.5 hours of exercise yesterday (3…

question about HR and exercise
I don't have a HRM (yet) but my elliptical at home has one of those little hearts on the board where you put your thumb to get your HR. I just read on a website (while researching HRMs) that your HR is 220 minus your age (http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/about_polar/who_we_are/why_train_with_a_heart_rate_monitor). So my HR…

burn 276 in an hour
So if I have my heart rate monitor watch going for an hour, but i'm not even doing anything and it says i've burned 276 calories, should I beleive that??? And since I wasn't doing anything for that hour if I were to multiply it by 24 hours, i'd be burning 6,624 calories at the minimum each day??? :noway: I'm not too sure…

Is there a Dr. in the house??
Preferably one that works for free?? OK, so this is one of those questions I am cringing at myself for asking, but I need some help. I am flat busted broke these days (not asking for sympathy, its my own fault) and can't stomach the thought of paying a $20 copay and taking the time from work to go to the doctor for…

HRM's - Polar vs Reebok
Well, I almost accidentally hijacked a thread and decided I had enough questions that I'd better start my own. LOL I'm seriously considering the purchase of a HRM - I've seen several posts with the opinion that the Reebok ones are just as good as Polar ones, for 1/3 of the price. Anyone have a Reebok HRM? Does it have a…

Can't go walking
Earlier this week, while I was walking, my lower legs started hurting really bad. I have never been in so much pain in my life, and I used to have migrane headaches, I have had gall bladder surgery as well as a hysterectomy and I have never hurt that bad. We are hoping that it is a certain medication I am on and by going…

SBF2: Reboot Boogaloo! July 11th
Early. Gotta do this for the next month on Saturdays for yoga. Never really understood those that like to get up early. Though, when it's in the 100s every day, I can see the appeal. Husband and I went to the gym last night. Did the cybex for 30 minutes - I need to up the intensity of cardio again, ugh. Also walked a bunch…

Should I be eating all my exercise calories back?
I am struggling at losing weight. I exercise daily and this usually includes working out with a trainer and running at least 3 miles a day. I am suppose to eat 1200 calories a day...and I usually stay around this 75% of the time. I have only lost 4 pounds in the last month and I am getting very frustrated. My BMI is…

how to flatten the butt
I strength train everyother day( I include lunges, squats, ect.) and I walk at least 2 or 3 times a week for cardio. My butt has muscle, but it sticks out more because I have skinnier legs. I would like to loose a little bit of my butt, flatten it, because it is hard to find jeans. I thought that maybe if I did less squats…

Another HRM question thread.....
Okay, weird question. The heartrate monitors that have the chest straps, when you get sweaty wont they slide down? Does anyone has issues with them not staying put? Is is worn above or below teh bra area? And is the chest strap the best type or HRM as opposed to the wrist watch type? Thanks in advance!

Slim in 6
I posted this yesterday in another thread, but was afraid it would get lost in the mix, so I started a new SI6 thread. For those of you that do SI6, I have a question. I did the SIU for a day or 2 and have been doing RIU for the last week. I started out burning about 250-270 calories doing RIU, but now that I have done it…

SBF2: Reboot Boogaloo! July 10th
Today, I'm up early with the intention of trying a new 9:30 "heavy terrain" spin class at the gym. Judging from that description that means lots of hills. I like hills. (or, I do now. . .at 10:30 I might not) Then, I have a chiropractor appointment, and then I'll write. I haven't worked on my comps at all this week.…

Cycling Junkies Out There?
I've come up with a new nickname for myself - "Cycleborg". I got those clip on shoes now, so I 'become one with the bike'. I really like the clips though. I feel more pull in my thighs as I now cycle a complete circle instead of just pushing down. My husband and I ride 2-3 days a week an average of 45-60 minutes at 17-18…
