Do I have to exercise? Really?Like for real?
Hi Everyone, I've been on MFP for 16 days now and I've lost 3 lbs. I've only worked out twice but I keep my food diary religiously. (every single bite) I've really, really learned alot about serving sizes and food portions, calories, carbs, etc. and I've drastically altered what I've been eating. If I just want to lose…

Hello! I was just wondering if anyone had any pointers for weight training? I really would like to tone up some more, but have always been kind of clueless when it came to building a weight training routine. I run pretty regularly and was wondering if any of you run the same days as you weight train? Any advice is greatly…

HRM reveals mistery
I've been exersising - walking on trademill for 60 minutes with 15% inclination for about 6 months. I worked myself up to 600cals per hour. 3 weeks ago I purchased Polar F11 HRM. Immediately it measured my cals loss at only 300.(same workout) :explode: .Now I've been using HRM daily and daily it tells me that my calories…

Workout Without the Weightloss?
I have been walking 2.5 miles each morning for the past 2 1/2 weeks. I do this in about 40 minutes and my heartrate is up, so I know I'm getting a workout. Plus, my legs get pretty sore because I'm actually moving....LOL. Here's my deal....I haven't really lost much weight.....maybe just a couple of pounds and that really…

Kind of a Gross Question...
I have been running 3+ miles a day for the past two weeks or so. I noticed that my toenail on both of my second toes are very sore and the one seems like it might be lifting up (maybe to fall off?). I read a little bit about this online and found out that this is caused by a blister that forms under the toenail and the…

Earned Calories
I don't know if this is a dumb question, but does anyone know if you are supposed to eat the calories you burn off exercising? I thought I read that somewhere...but it sounds a bit like it defeats the purpose :noway:

S.B.F. Fitness Challenge. . .July 30
Happy Anniversary to us! Husband is feeling under the weather today, but right now we are still planning on going out tonight. Went over on my calories yesterday, mainly because I ran out of workout time - all I did was walk. I was going to go to weights class this morning, but husband would like me to make soup. So,…

Want Serious Fat Loss?
Are you interested in really loosing some fat? Try looking into HIIT or Tabata training. I understand it will seriously kick your butt, but it is the most efficient way to burn fat without loosing muscle. Anyone else trying this?

So I burned 1020 cals this morning....
I did two classes this morning back to back and used my hrm....came out to 1020....I've already eaten my 1200 for the day and it's only 2 pm (big salad was really BIG). I know you're supposed to eat exercise cals, but I'm not sure I can eat them all....those Hershey bars left over from camping might do the trick...

So I am not sure.. if I eat my 1000 to 1200 a day and burn 350 at the gym do I eat those 350 or not? Would it be ok if I don't if I am at least getting 1000 in and feeling fine?

Hi everyone, I was just trying to get a bit of a group going with hopfully some people in my local area. MFP Tri 7/30
Hey all. Got in a 2 mile run last night and looking to do another tonight. Still working up to everything. Lost my suit at a campground this weekend so no swimming for a few days unless I can squeeze myself into my old Speedo - probably not. I'm not letting myself get a new one until all the weight is off. Planning a ride…

MFP Tri?
So I tried to start a swimming one of these and basically found out that most swimmers on the site are like me - triathletes who swim two or three times a week. I've also found that there seem to be a lot of tri people out there, so I figured even though I haven't even ever done a race, that's what I'm training for and we…

MFP Runners Club- 7/29
Good morning fellow runners. I hope everyone had a good run today. I did not. I had every intention of getting up early and doing a spinning class but I didn't. You know what they say about good intentions. The road to hell is paved with them, but that is another thread somewhere I am sure. I did a weight training…

Running for Weight Loss - Interesting something to read...
Many people start running because they want to lose weight. As one of the most vigorous exercises out there, running is an extremely efficient way to burn calories and drop pounds. A 150-pound person will burn approximately 100 calories per mile when running. Healthy Eating is the First Step If you hope to lose weight by…

ouch! Carried away Exercising
I was doing so good last week riding my stationary bike, exercising my arms with small weights, leg lifts on my husband's weight bench...and then I got cocky! I did curls and butterfly things with heavier weights and did MORE than I should have. I wasn't so much sore as exhausted for about 4-5 days. Messed up my whole…

Running and varicose veins
A few weeks ago Lina ('s husband) mentioned getting varicose veins from running. I had never heard of that before and studying online says that only running on hard surfaces would affect them. I run on dirt. BUT since reading her posts I've been watching my legs closely. I've only been running for a few months and I think…

MFP Swimmers July 29th
Hey all. Hoping to jump in the water today after my husband gets home from work. I swim at the outdoor Olympic sized pool on the local naval base. I totally prefer to swim indoors because I love backstroke and can't seem to keep myself going in a straight line without a ceiling to look at, but I have trouble getting up in…
