The Firm
Hi everyone, I have been doing the firm for the last 11 days for those that don't know the firm is a 40 minute cardio workout dvd that also focuses on light strenght training for which I use 5lb weights. While I do enjoy this dvd I have not budged in pounds so I was wondering maybe I should focus more on walking instead of…

MFP Runners Club 3/12
Wake up everyone and get out and run. :smokin: I ran today for the first time in almost a month. It was a little under 3.5 miles and it was rough. I can tell I lost some time since I haven't run in awhile. Just know I wasn't slacking off, I have been sick with an upper respitory infection and various colds and sinus…

WATP -3 MILES DONE- YIPEE
I did the WATP 3 mile walk with the stretchie band today. I am so happy I did it! I love her workouts. It's been cold and rainy here for the last 2 days so I've done 0 outside walking the last 2 days. I picked up the 3 & 4 mile dvd at walmart last night and I'm so glad I did. I hope it's warm enough to get 2 miles outside…

Chatty Cathy At The Gym
Ever notice that there is always someone at the gym who would much rather talk than work out? There is a guy who is usually there during my noon workout who seeks out any who will listen to him. He will do about 5 minutes of exercise per hour (55 mins working his mouth). I want to be a nice guy, but he is driving me crazy!

Combining Cardio and Strength Training
If I am going to do both in one day, back to back, does it matter what I do first. I have always been under the impression you need to warm up your muscles first, so you should do cardio first. But then I'm afraid I might be too beat to do any more. Your suggestions?

Digital Scales
There may be a topic on this already that I may have missed... But I have a question about scales. I'm using a non-digital scale right now but would like to get a good digital one. The one's I've used in the past tended to not be very acurate...there would be a several pound difference within just a few minutes of weighing…

Achieved a big goal on my bike today!
So I have been riding a little over a year and got my first road bike back in September. Now that the weather is getting more "springy" I have been trying to put some miles on my bike. So today I set out to do 20 and I averaged my fastest ever! I am not super speedy by anyone's standards, but I did 20 on hilly terrain…

musing on why we need exercise
I was reminded today how important exercise is in losing weight. It forces us to think about our bodies in a deeper way, connect with it and LISTEN to it more than when we are just cutting calories. When we exercise our good and bad food choices can become even more evident when our body needs healthy fuel for energy or…

Stronger Better Faster March 11
Good morning! How is everyone doing? I'm tired. We had storms come in early this morning with thunder that shook the house, and I didn't go back to sleep after that. I seriously doubt I will get a nap today either. This morning is horse therapy. I don't know what kind of exercise I am going to get in today since it's going…

Elliptical sob-story
I swim and jog 3 times a week. My BMI is currently 22. I consider myself pretty healthy (now that I have lost nearly 20 lbs--thanks MFP!) but I can't do the elliptical. And I mean I CAN'T do it. Whenever I step on the elliptical within a few minutes my chest hurts and then my head starts to feel funny as well. I thought at…

NYC walking
I have a question...I live in Manhattan and walk everywhere, I don't drive to the grocery store, or pharmacy or anywhere really, I walk. So here's my question...if I run errands for 10, 15, 20, 30, 45mins an hour etc...should I log it? I mean...I am "walking", at a leisurly pace(which they have an option for), or should I…

Hey runner buds... Tell us all about your awesome run today... I did a 6 mile tempo run this morning: 1 mile warm-up 4 miles @ 8 min pace 1 mile cool down It was nice that I could do it outside. I have been looking for a Jazzercise class to fit my schedule, I work until 6pm Mon-Thurs. Well I found a class near work that starts at 6. My Back Hurts!!
I started mission 2 yesterday of Billy Blanks Boot Camp and my back is killing me. Best workout on a treadmill??
I was hoping I could get some help! I go to the gym and have started using the treadmill for an hour and I'm wondering what is the best way to get the most out of my treadmill workout. I've heard it's best to walk at a steady pace but then sprint for 30 seconds and then go back to walking. I've also heard you should just…

What happened?
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I went away for two days and didn't jog.
