Question about Elliptical?
I was wondering when working out is it best to do the random where the resistance levels change intermitently or the manual? I have been doing the random at level 2-3 for 30 I burn around 300 calories and my HR stays elevated. I was just wondering what is best or if it even matters. I only see other people at the gym doing…

HELP!! Starting Lent and training for a half-marathon!!
Lent is starting on Wed and I will only be eating form 12 noon-9pm (not to mention that I am missing the most important meal, BREAKFAST!) is there a way for me to do this healthily and still keep up my marathon training? I'm worried about not eating enough and wonder if I should just sit this year out. Although, I don't…

question for you runners out there
i LOVE running. but the farthest i've EVER run is 4 miles. i'm training for the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, which is a 10K, so I have a little over 2 miles to add to my distance. After I get up to running 6.2 miles, I'd like to work on my time. I've done quite a handful of 5Ks, and each time I set a new PR. But I have…

Runners - HELP!
Yesterday I ran 10 miles (yes, I'm still gloating over that). However, the clothes I was wearing were great for about the first 6 miles... then tragedy struck. My underarmour capri pants felt like they weighed 10lbs and they were rubbing in *all* the wrong places. I have a nice rash on the back of my leg. My shirt and…

Calling all HRM users
I have been reading the past threads on here about HRM's and am still undecided about them. I do not want to spend a fortune on an HRM but it seems that the HRM is necessary. I really need an accurrate calorie counter and something to keep me in check if im not working out hard enough. I think that an HRM will definitly be…

Stronger, Better, Faster.......Feb 22nd
Loved Acroyoga. Can't wait to get the pictures off my phone. I only got pictures of one thing we did, but it was a fun class. I wasn't crazy about the Thai massage part. It didn't seem to fit - but apparently, it's part of the curriculum - which means I won't take the class without my husband. Also walked/jogged 3 miles.…

Running- log average speed for calories burned?
I went out for a run/walk today and did 3.5 miles in 38 min... it was a combination of running and walking over the time period with equal amounts of uphill , flat, and downhill... should I plug that into my exercise as an average of 11 min mile or should I be timing how long I walk and run individually? I'm not sure how…

Don't hold the rails!
Just a little reminder, if you use a treadmill, don't hold the rails! I've been dead guilty of doing this in the past and as a result, have been cheating myself of a proper workout. Here's an article from American Fitness: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0675/is_4_19/ai_76693640 The synopsis: "For weight reduction,…

Shape- up shoes
I just bought a pair of those shape up shoes you see in the fitness magazines. Has anyone tried them? I got them a couple of weeks ago. I really like them. I wear them around the house and they give your legs a pretty good workout. While they don't replace working out, they are a good filler! Not sure if they are worth…

Any one else running in compression tights?
So I tried out my new CWX running tights today and they are great! I was alittle sceptical because they are sooooo tight. But they really helped me with my IT band and knee issues. Its like running with a knee brace but so much more comfortable! I was able to do more hills and feel great tonight! Extra bonus - got several…

Walking question
Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me , I have read recently that when walking ( I use a treadmill ) that it is just as effective to walk faster for 10 minutes 3x a day than to walk moderately for 60 minutes. Do any of you have any thoughts on this. I am looking to burn fat more than anything. Thanks

What exactly is low blood pressure?
I ask because of a conversation I had with a nurse who took my blood pressure (twice) yesterday. My blood pressure is always lower than most peoples. I've had procedures, check-ups and my blood pressure taken multiple times in the past 2 years and nobody ever seemed to think it was a BAD thing, so neither did I. The reason…
