can cottage cheese be a replacement?
If I'm making tuna or chicken salad can I mash cottage cheese down to a smooth consistency and mix that in with the tuna or chicken in lieu of mayo? Or is that gross? I was thinking about doing that and tossing in a bit of mustard and chopped pickles too, but I wasn't sure.... I don't know if anyone has tried this, but I…

Steel Cut Oatmeal
Ok, ok.... I just tried steel cut oats for the first time, I usually eat regular oat (not instant or quick). So I read the directions. Follow them to a T. As they are cooking, I am thinking, this does not look right. I am very skeptial. The pot I cooked them in has oats I think permanently bonded to the bottom. But you…

Hungry Girl
Has anyone heard of the hungry girl cookbook? I was in walmart last night and saw it, but I didn't pick it up. It looks kinda cool, it tells you the calories, carbs, fat, sodium per serving. Experiment
I noted that my doc wants me to do a 1600 cal diet daily. I'm usually up for that length of time daily or would be if I got eight hours sleep. I wonder what my system would say to eating 100 calories every hour. Oh I found 100 calorie cheesecake that's real good.

Aloe Vera Juice
Tastes a little like tonic water. I keep mine in the fridge and after power walking...down 6 oz. every morning. It is very refreshing when it is ice cold. Living in the FL heat year round it is important to hydrate. So...I figure if these plants have properties to heal burns (the gel part) then the juice is also good for…

How bad is it...
to eat a good portion of your daily calories after 8pm? I know some people swear by not eating after 7, etc, but is there truth to this in your experience? My husband and I don't even get home and have dinner ready until 7. On days that we exercise, we sometimes wind up with hundreds of calories left over just before…

New York Times article on binge eating study
Interesting stuff. Especially the comments after the story. http://tinyurl.com/3jg7du Anyone else have study data on the relationship between stress and overeating? I really find it fascinating, in a "oh my god, is that me?" kinda way. My unprofessional, a-little-knowledge-can-be-dangerous-opinion is that it's all about…
