Non Weight bearing cast
So, I've been working out, doing well, on the steady decline on the scale. Then went to Zumba at the gym and tore my achilles tendon. I am now in a non weight bearing cast on my leg for 10 weeks. I know I can do crunches and weights for upper arms but no cardio I can think of. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks cheers, Missy…

MFP Runner's Club - August 29
Good morning, runners! No run for me today. My husband and I are leaving in a few hours for the mountains this weekend. I plan on running a 6-miler while I'm there, so wish me luck - the terrain isn't as easy as my local neighborhood streets! :) Have a great long weekend!

What do I call this?
I took a gravity class at the gym today. It was 60 minutes from start to finish. It was where you lay on the board that slides and you use the arm pull things and use the footboard for leg reps...all I know is I have never worked my body so hard and I had sweat dripping off of me today when I was done. It worked upper and…

S.B.F. Challenge. . .August 29th. . .
Hi ladies! Alright, so here's what I decided to do nutrition wise. I reduced my "activity level", switched to maintenance and lowered the amount I'm "declaring" for bikram burn. (it's the one thing I don't wear my HRM for. . .and it's my favorite thing). Also, I switched my "ratios" back to 40 % carbs, 30% protein and 30%…

Me > Wall *smack*
Okay, that's me hitting the wall. Could someone PLEASE yell at me for trying to go 110% this week to get myself back to my fightin' weight after over two months of no exercise? I have to be honest, I KNOW I did way too much this week, and tonight I fell asleep for a couple hours instead of going for a run, and I…

This cant possibly be true- can it?
I just read this statement " For every pound of muscle that you add, it will burn 3000 calories a day." Is that true? I feel stupid even asking, becuase I'm confident is just one more of the 12,000,654 theories and myths out there- :noway:

GPS & Heart Rate Monitor
I am looking at getting the new Garmen Forerunner 405 GPS + Heart Rate Monitor to help me keep track of distance and calories on my runs. Only problem is my wrists are really small and when I tried on the Garmen, it was really big and clunky. I didn't try on the Heart Rate Monitor band yet, but I am a little concerned that…

eating your exercise calories

It's going to be a great Thursday - if I have to force it on myself! CP - go ahead and join in discussions. I always check the SBF when I log my calories. I also check it before I post on the next days, so don't worry about posting after everyone else. Today is elliptical and weigh in at the gym. Yesterday was a…

Pushups
I hope that this is not a repeat post, but I had stumbled upon a website that gives you a "plan" to be able to do 100 consecutive pushups. hundredpushups.com I kind of started doing it just to try it out. I have actually seen some gains in strength. I personally wouldn't care at the end if I can do the 100 at one time or…

inner thighs
I know we can't spot-reduce when it comes to losing fatty areas ... but does anybody have suggestions to help shrink my inner thighs? I run and do other cardio, but it's a spot that just won't budge.

OMG Tread Mill Usage
Well, since the surgery, I have only done hand weights and walking around the block. I just did the tread mill thing for 15 minutes and I am dying. But I am determined to do 15 minutes a day for the next 7 days to get back in the swing of things. :noway: :noway: :noway: :noway:

NEW SHOES!
I am so excited! Over the lunch hour I bought new running shoes. Not just any new, but shoes that actually feel good and fit right. I can't wait to try them out. I went to a shop that analyzes how you walk, asks questions about any discomfort while working out and then just starts bringing all these shoes for you to try…

Stronger, Better, Faster Challenge August 27
oops. . .confession time. Yesterday was a massive fail for me. We went over to a friend's house for a long leisurely lunch that was exactly that. Too much white wine, bread, cheese and smoked fish in the afternoon=gym not going to happen. So, today, I'm re-dedicating to really clean eating. I've adjusted my nutrient…

FYI for all P90Xers
I just bought a calorie counter/heart rate monitor. I used it while I did the plyometrics video last night and it said I burned 791 calories. And, to be honest, I even had to do the modified moves at times to catch my breath. I don't know if it's because I need to lose so much weight that my body burns that much during…

PH balance
This was a topic in a few discussions lately. I came across it in my biology class. "hemoglobin as a proton (H+) acceptor to maintain pH when carbon dioxide builds up in the blood stream; for example during exercise." Not just for food anymore...

Zip Line and Hicking
I did it! I went zip linning and it was great! I am afraid of heights but figured I would celebrate the weight I have lost and become more active. It was awesome! After being such a brave mom, I put my 10 month old on my back and we hiked down the HUGE set of stairs to the beach and explored the rocks. The we went to…

Polar F4 heart monitor questions
I've heard this is a good device especially if I want it to count calories. The downs I've read are: 1. Proprietary battery that is hard to replace 2. no back light on the watch (hard to see at night). Any comments? Also, if I want to share with my husband, should I just order the men's version or will the strap be too…

Fitness dummy with a question about walking/treadmill

BUT I'm burning the SAME number of cals...but sweating a ton more... The other issue is that I'm having pain in my knees etc....so I guess back down the treadmill goes Any…

Killing 2 birds with one stone
I'm trying to get back into the excercise mode. I've always had to push myself even though I used to be pretty athletic when I got going. Now I get sore after every small feat. Even walking fast for 15 minutes makes me sore the next day. It's getting better but I'm taking it slow. In order to add more excercise to my day…

Thinking about running, but I have a question
I usually run in the morning, early and eat a small energy bar before I go, but now that I am back to work I only have a couple chances a week to get out. I was thinking about running tonight, before it gets late, but I just ate dinner, and while I am not totally stuffed, it was a good size meal and was wondering how long…
