When do you work out? I have to go directly after work and the guilt associated with this is incredible! My husband has to leave for work at 5am so I have morning duty getting them ready for school. So I figure I have 2 hours with them in the am and he gets an hour or two with them in the evening. Problem is we never sit…

Victorious Victoria Day Challenge. . .May 18
Happy almost over day! I can't believe we're almost to the end of this challenge. . .where does the time go? OK, confession time: I did not get my cardio in yesterday, but fell asleep on the sofa at 6:30. So, my walking had to do. My goals for next time are to get back to a set schedule, and since I'm still trying to lose…

For those with a HRM..which is more accurate?
Ok, so I read all the time, those of you who got a HRM, say that the gym machines are way off in their total calories burned. My question is, how does MFP rank? For example, do you see that the gym machines are closer to what your HRM says, or is MFP closer? My gym elliptical says I burn 270 calories in 31 minutes, but on…

Calorie burning Gardening????
On a web site that I found for figuring out how many calories you burn for the exercise you do, it said that I burned 930 calories for 1 1/2 hr of gardening. The site calculates your hight, weight, age, gender. This sounds like a lot of calories burned??? Is it right?

Watching TV While Doing Cardio
Lovin' it. I used to work out at LA Fitness, which requires you to tune-in to a certain radio frequency to hear the TV. Needless to say, I never bothered gathering the hardware to make that happen. I now work out at a small local club up in North Scottsdale and each cardio machine (treadmill, bikes, ellipticals) has its…

My last morning on mfp for almost 2 weeks. I will miss it here. Yesterday my sister and I went to a circuit class. We thought it would be easy, since most of the midday classes are, so we did 30 minutes on the elliptical first. It wasn't easy, but I was glad to end my hard week on a high note. Today I might be my day off…

confused about "in zone" heart rate
Good morning! I'm on my way to the gym and thought I'd ask all the experts before I head out. Yesterday, after my workout, my HRM said that I had 20 minutes "in zone," but I worked out for 45 (cardio) I did notice my HRM blinking while I was on the Arc Trak, but I wasn't feeling fatigued yet. Should I stop when it's…

So many theories on "the night before the run" logic. So the night before a big game alot of althletes eat pasta for the carbs. However, reading info on line it says to eat light the night before a run. Whats the right way to do it. Its a measley 1.5 mile run but I need every ounce of help I can get to do it in less than…

Would you classify this as circuit training?
On Mondays and Thursdays and sometimes Saturday I take a class (Fast and Furious) at my gym. It is a mix of cardio and weight training. Would you classify that as a circuit work out? I also do a boot camp on Mon, Wed, and Friday mornings. We do different things and sometimes I have a hard time trying to input that…

Couch to 5k
This has been discussed here before but I wanted to reintroduce it to the newbies and others who are interested in running but don't know where to start: First, I'll start off with a back story: I was obese in high school. Anyone know how accurate the calories on HRM are? I have been eating all my calories and exercising everyday using the calories measure on HRM. I have felt pretty drained and low on energy during some of my long bike rides (I even used sports drink). These rides are 2 - 3 hrs long with avg HR of 155. In the past 4 days, I…
