Manually counting calories
Does anyone count calories manually? MFP is so easy, and I love it, but I feel like it's so convenient that I never really get a true idea of the amount of calories in my foods. MFP does all the work, and I don't have to know a thing! Of course, I have a general idea of how to make 300 calorie meals now (I eat 5x a…

Whey Protein Powder
Any recommendations? I have been using the Body Fortress brand from Walmart, but my buddy told me to watch out for the cheaper brands. I guess since they're not regulated by the FDA, they can't put whatever they want on the nutrition label...true or not. I just got back from Complete Nutrition. Of course, the guy there…

Clean Eating Club ~ January 2009
Let's start the new year by working toward becoming what we want to be -- healthy and full of energy! The 80 Percent Principle says that the body is 10 percent genetics, 10 percent exercise, and 80 percent nutrition. Therefore, in order to improve the way we look and feel, the most important thing that we can do is focus…

Diet Aids?
I was just curious to see if anyone is taking a diet aid in their weight loss efforts? Like slim quick or stackers? I know these items are no monitored by the FDA, like vitamins, and they should not be taken with out consulting a doctor first. I also know they have many "Filler" ingredients that can counter act…

Cafeteria Veggie Burger; should I count it like this?
I got a veggie burger from the cafeteria, but instead of a bun I had it on two pieces of wheat bread. It was a pretty average looking veggie burger. I see that MFP has an entry for a Burger King cheeseless/mayoless veggie burger. Would this most likely be close to my veggie burger? I just put tomatoes, onions, cucumber,…

How about for children?
I was wondering if anyone is aware of a site that you can track this sort of thing for children. I certainly do not mean in a "I want to watch their weight" way, in fact I think it would be helpful for me to have a tool to make sure they are eating enough of the proper foods for their age groups... does such a thing exist?
